I don't exactly see Robinson Cano in Cooperstown, but the others can all arguably be there, depending on if steroid use remains a determining factor. Jeter is the only 100% sure thing right now. Oh, he and Teixeira (sp?) both need more years and Cano has to play up to his "potential" but he could make it if he puts together a long string of seasons like this one. I see A-Rod and Jeter as locks, PEDrugs won't be...

BLACKEST NIGHT in collected edition

SamyMerchi wrote: I'm going to have to concur. I'm skipping out on New Krypton because of too many separate collected editions to track, same with Blackest Night. I'll just make my own. I prefer floppies over collected editions exactly because they cut down on the number of separate items to have to keep track of. So having zillions of HCs to deal with strikes me as adopting the floppies' worst aspect. I will agree with...

Myths, Legends, Fables &...

My early childhood was 'way back in the first half of the 1950s. In the family "library" (a too-fancy term for our paltry collection of books) there was a multi-volume collection of myths, legends, fables and fairly tales. It was published in the '30s, had mostly well-done b+w line-drawings with a few color plates interspersed. My sisters read these stories to me endlessly, and I spent hours looking at the...

Yeah, that didn't work well at all, did it? I've seen that done more effectively (Marvel did it on a Golden Age reprint about ten or fifteen years ago) but it was with a lighter tone and without any texture.

"the Pertwee stories didn't start with Spearhead, they started with Inferno." Except in Philly in the early 70's, where they started with THE SILURIANS (grrrrrrrrrrr). I had a very hard time when I was younger watching anything every single day, so trying to deal with 7-PART stories was horrendous. I missed the 2nd half of THE SILURIANS, and the middle of THE AMBASSADORS OF DEATH (did see part 7 though). I finally...

Paul, I'm late to the game here...you've asked question 2, and I haven't answered question 1 yet. So, to catch up: No, I don't collect them all. I have 29 MA Masterworks, 2 GA Masterworks and 3 of the recently introduced paperbacks (love 'em!). I've sold 3 Hulks and 2 Silver Surfers to upgrade to their respective omnis, and I've sold 2 MW's that after buying and reading once, I knew they would never get...

I was never much of a Python fan (I guess I was too young to "get" it), but I loved Dave Allen followed by Doctor Who. There are occasional Sunday nights that I wish they were still on. Also to be released on March 2.

A lot of us probably already own a set of these in some form, but Warner is touting these as being duped from the original masters, and animation historian
Jerry Beck is recommending them, so ...

I can't wait to pick it up later. Someone on the other forum asked LBC about a potential bind. Supposedly the base would be $50 but that's when it
was thought to be 10X14. I don't know what it would be at its true full-size of 20X14.
Guess we'll all wait and see if DC ends up doing a full-size edition later and what the price will be.

Agreed, Punisher War Zone was very enjoyable. Everyone should just keep in mind going into it that it is very much a Marvel Knights Punisher movie, not a
Punisher MAX movie (even though many surface elements were culled from Max).

One of the unintended corrollaries to the Chapman beaning and the clean
baseballs is it helped trigger the end of the dead ball era. Granted Babe
Ruth was already hitting more home runs than anyone, he became the first
person to hit more than 30 HR in a season (54 actually in 1920). With the
white baseballs and the removal of the old, dirty softer, mushier
baseballs, the lively ball era began.

I used to get every one until X-Men vol 8 and The Inhumans vol 2.
Now I guess I'm officially a cherry-picker!

Before I post my cover for today, here's the homage to Sentry's cover:
My cover:
Several qualities make this a standout from all comics currently on the stands in 1968:
1) All in different shades of green!
2) Completely blurb and dialogue-free!
3) An interesting use of Kirby Krackle by Kirby-disciple Steranko!
4) Well, um...Lorna Dane was sure a looker, wasn't she??...

Christ, I'd forgotten all about that Frankenstein movie. Carrie Fisher is in that?
I DO remember David Warner (um, he was the monster, right? )

I'd get rid of anything that's reprinted. Since I'm pretty young I think pretty much everything I like will be reprinted at some point (even

How To Play!
I'll post a fragment of a Marvel comic cover, along with a hint as to what comic it's from.
You get to ask one yes-or-no question about the fragment and make one guess as to the name and issue number of the series the cover image is from per update.
An update is any time I post on this thread....
