Hey I only use BumGenius and totally love them... haven't actually heard a bad word against them so far!!!? So that would be my recommendation. Can't wait to hear how you get on once you start using cloth on your little one! xxx p.s. it makes me laugh how addictive this is once you get started - and everyone seems to be the same!!!! xxx

Bambino Mio advice please
Published (2009-12-20 16:00:00)
I was given some bambino?mio wraps. I think they run on the small side. my son is in the large size wraps although he isn't 18lbs yet. He is in medium on motherease wraps. prefold wraps do keep the poo in but it always gets off the nappy onto the wrap which rarely happens with my totsbots. K

Just as point all prefold system wraps are smaller and are meant to be. A pad folded prefold will be much slimmer than any 2 parter? and as you don't necessarily nippa in position you need a relatively tight wrap to keep in place. Hope that makes sense.

Pop Ins?
Published (2009-12-21 12:45:00)
Hiya, I always had that response from people too, lol, you'll just have to prove them wrong! I've got a pop-in nappy, I love it :) Compared to the others in my stash (a wide assortment!) it's really soft (on the outside as well as the inside) so I tend to use it first if DS is a bit poorly or has a bit of nappy rash. Absorbancy is good, fit is good (though he's on the middle setting already, seems a bit smaller than some...

If you want something quicker drying than the pop in you could consider a 'pocket' nappy, like the Bum Genius or Fuzzi Bunz - similar to a pop in but the padding slips into a little pocket rather that attaching with poppers. Mine dry super quick and I don't have a tumble drier.

Potty training babies.
Published (2009-12-13 22:31:00)
I got a small one in Asda during the last baby event they had and I also got a toilet training seat wich you can sit on like a potty ( but it is flat with a small hole) and then converts so the top goes on the toilet and the rest turns into a stool for reaching the toilet/sink. I think the brand was First Years? It was in TKMAXX so I'm not too sure. Its perfect for little bottoms and my daughter will happily sit on it until I insist on...

Potty training babies.

Thank you for that. I think the title of my thread was wrong in that I don't think it is potty training like you'd do with a toddler but as you say - if you can catch a poo in a potty instead of washing a dirty nappy then it's a bonus. I have been sitting her on her bumboo after a nappy change as it's the only way I can give her a few mins of nappy off time without her scratching herself to pieces. Quite often she wees in...

Its a bit of a faff, but have you tried soap flakes? You can get 'Granny's Soap Flakes' from Tesco's or there's a company on ebay that do them, and they also do the liquid form. If you buy the soap flakes, the faff is that you have to dissolve them in a jug of hot water before pouring them into the detergent drawer. The reason I suggest this is because I have had no end of trouble with my reusables and my...

I have not used them myself but I have some friends who love them so much I am thinking of investing. I would say though that any one brand does not suit everyone or even one baby all of their nappy life so think about trying some others just so you can develop a preference.

Hi Susie, Lovely to 'see' you, how are you and your little man? I've not started using my nappies and wraps yet so can't comment from experience, but the wrap that I've seen recommended time and time again that is meant to be one of the best wraps around for containment is the Mother-Ease Rikki wraps and I think that Imse Vimse do an almost, if not identical wrap too. HTH!

I dry my nappies on radiators and dry pail and don't have an ammonia smell. it smells of wee when i take it off after being on for 3 hours - very boyish wee at that. what detergent are u using as any with bleach in contain ammonia which might make things worse. I use standard paper liners which are meant to be one use. all makes are similar. i wash and reuse the liners that are only wet. ...

I bought a pack of just the bambino nappies before my LO arrived (but not the wraps as I had a different make of wraps to use) and TBH I've never liked them either! I'll try to give some advise though: You say that the nappy sticks out a lot - well, if you are comparing it to a disposable then yes, all washable nappies are much bulkier than disposables - that's the only way to get enough ...

Hi I dont really post on here often but I saw your post and as I have similar thoughts I wondered if a reply might help. My little girl is 10months and I started putting her the potty about 6 weeks ago. Like you I spoke to several parents of grown up children ( including my mum, auntie etc) who all started putting babies on potties once they were able to sit up unaided. The majority of babies ...

Will be interested to see your replies hon, we only have BumG nappies and although we have been using them for about 8 weeks now, I still haven't been brave enough to try them overnight!!  Would love to give it a go as would mean getting rid of disposables completely if it worked out well.  On that note I might just give it a go and see what happens...eek xxx
