Ninja, ask your vet if anti biotics would be a good course, with an IV drip twice a day. yes, he may quit eating, but you can allways force feed a high cal diet.

EVO or Solid Gold?
Published (2009-11-08 23:31:00)
I haven't tried EVO dry cat food yet and many people swear by it but I have read many accounts of cats getting back constipation, some even having to have surgery from it. So, I myself would probably go with the other.

I gagged at the smell!!?
Published (2009-11-08 22:01:00)
You make it sound like it's no big deal, have you had experience with this before? I wonder what caused it :-( She didn't eat much tonight, but I did keep trying to offer her things, and her gagging stopped. After she became more playful, she ate another pinky mouse. She still isn't eating the NV raw she usually loves!! She did a nice big poopie so I hope that helped too.

EVO or Solid Gold?
Published (2009-11-09 05:47:00)
Has the formula of the EVO Cat & Kitten kibble changed? I would swear it used to have potatoes in it when I fed it! Anyway, I would say the EVO over all other brands of kibble. Look at the Solid Gold Indigo Moon, potatoes are the 2nd ingredient and chicken meal, rather than chicken, is the 1st ingredient. The 1st 5 ingredients of the EVO are turkey, turkey meal, chicken, herring meal, and chicken fat.

I am so sad for Simon and his family!
It's good tho that he has a family who loves him. I know they will not let him suffer and will be able to let him go when his time comes, even tho that is very hard.
I will purr very very hard for Simon and his family, and Mommy and I will be praying for them.

Why would you think he's mixed with anything? Bengals are part wild cat and are hardly ever bred in a way they can create mixes. He looks like a great tabby and white to me. (Like Nems!)

About 2 months ago, Leo stopped jumping. Within 6 days, he could no longer stand or walk. During those 6 days he saw 5 different vets. They said it could be all the things your vet said but his blood work kept coming back normal. The 3rd vet was positive that he had toxoplasmosis and started him on the same medication you are on. Luckily, she also referred us to a neurologist.
The neurologist ...

In the wild a cat would entire almost the entire prey: meat, organs, bones, etc. So ground beef by itself is not nutritionally balanced for a cat. They need extra vitamins and minerals, taurine, omega 3's, and so on. There are some pre-mixes that you can add to meat, such as feline future that contain all the supplements a cat would need. Or you can buy a pre-made raw diet such as Nature's ...

That's impressive for a 12 week old. Go Aura! You are a lucky girl, getting a healthy raw diet right from the start.

You should check out these websites:
www.catinfo.org
www.catnutrition.org
www.mypetcarnivore .com
These are all awesome websites that helped me switch my cats to raw.
There is no reason to be paranoid about germs from raw meat. If you can do things as simple as wipe the counter down, and wash your hands you are at no risk. Many people prepare meats for them selves daily. It is the same ...

There is every chance she could chill out after getting spayed. It wouldn't be a good idea to rehome her without her being spayed anyway, so I would try that for sure.

Missy; They must know you have a big heart. And you must be well known in your community. These poor cats you get must also sense that you are a kind.

I myself feed an all wet grain free diet and some premade raw.
Oreo the only thing I think that you can feed for all cats is a Raw diet, you have to go back to nature basically, this is what an obligate carnivore should eat, and not dry high carb grain based foods. This will be cheaper than the vet prescribed food, and it will help with allergies, crystals, and a host of other things.
Of ...

well i would at least get her eating high quality dry. Like innova for instance, then go from there. Purina cat chow is low quality.
if you check out catinfo.org, it has a couple stories on her sturggles with picky obese cats who were incredibly hard to convert. Im sure with a kitten it should be much easier.

Lurch stopped at 12 months or right around there. Once he started getting chubby, I knew it was either in prep for a growth spurt, or he had gotten out of kitten metabolism and achieved full size. He slimmed back down a bit but never got any bigger.
Rumble may have taken a little longer, like 14 months. I don't recall exactly. But it took until a full two years before he really filled out ...
