This is a sister project to the (presently half-completed) Book of Revelation thread. Compared to that thread, however, this thread would be a bit-less patristic-oriented, though quotes from the Fathers will still be included. THE GOSPEL OF MARK EUANGELION KATA MARKON EVANGELIUM SECUNDUM MARCUM Authorship of the Gospel: The Gospel is anonymously written, yet since ...

with baby number nine, i rescinded my lifetime membership in the cloth diaper club and i thought i'd never look back. i'm still not looking back, i swear. but we have a problem. naomi is big for a 2 year old, never mind big for a 2 year old with down syndrome. she's big. but a lot of what she does/ how she is is still a lot like a younger baby. specifically, her milk intake. ...

By Cindy Wooden Catholic News Service ROME (CNS) -- Rather than being grateful, some people have reacted to Pope Benedict XVI's wider permission for the celebration of the Tridentine Mass with further demands, said Cardinal Dario Castrillon Hoyos. The cardinal, president of the Pontifical Commission "Ecclesia Dei," spoke Sept. 16 at a conference marking the first anniversary of "...

I'm going through RCIA. I've done so much searching for several years, and feel like I've finally arrived at the truth. I feel very strongly about this and am so excited and enthusiastic about it. My question might seem to be coming out of nowhere, especially since I'm still only going through RCIA, but I have this feeling that logically seems preposterous, but is persistent anyway. I've ...

What is the proper way to conduct a Devotional or frequent Confession? Especially if you go to the same Priest. Trying to do a First Friday Devotional and go to Confession, once a month. I do not have any Mortal Sins And the shortcomings I do have month to month seem to be in the same categories. How do you have a proper frequent confession, especially if you go to the same Priest?

Hi all. I am not catholic, but my mother in law is. My husband was raised catholic, but at the age of 14 stopped going and didn't further his faith after his father died of cancer. Anyways, I was not raised catholic either and recently just started going back to church (non denominational), and my husband goes as well. He does not consider himself catholic, he really likes the church we go to now...

I'm interested for those who consider themselves a Traditional Catholic, how long has it been since you started thinking of yourself in those kinds of terms. In other words, when did you come to the opinion that the Church was operating more in a spirit of discontinuity and rupture than in a spirit of continuity and tradition. And in your narrative, please describe any major event that made you...

Every English Catholic Church I've been to, after the communion, when the celebrant says " let us pray" the congregation stand, and remain standing until after the final blessing and dismissal. Every Scottish Catholic Church I've been to, people stay kneeling for prayer and cross themselves while kneeling, then stand when the priest exits. The first few weeks of the University term up ...

It just occured to me that I have never regreted my conversion. When I was saved, no one told me that I have to leave the Catholic religion, I simply believed that Jesus Christ paid for my sins with his blood and I called upon him to save me: just like the Philipian jailer in Acts 16:31. He asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt ...

I am SO fuming mad right now! This poor kid, he just started 6th grade and he's already been having problems with teasing and fitting in. This is the last thing he needs! I just want to cry for him! He said he went into his science classroom to set his books down and before the bell rang he asked the teacher if he could run to the bathroom. She said no and told him to sit down. So ds ...

It's true. At the beginning of the universe, there was only hydrogen and a little helium. There is no reason to be offended that God chose this way of making human bodies. The Catholic Church does not object to that fact. | |
