UK Casinos Wages
Published (2009-11-28 20:31:00)
I started on something like £3.7k per year ....about £72 per week. I think back in the day outgoings weren't as high then as they are now ? Beer / food / beer / beer. Also most of us were probably staying at home for minimal lodge money with no outgoings like mortgages, rent, pensions, insurances, cars etc.

Angel Eye Electronic Baccarat Shoe
Published (2009-11-28 10:31:00)
I had a brief demonstration of the shoe at G2E where I sat down and dealt a few hands. To explain to those who're not familiar with the style of the game in Asia and especially Macau this is a game scenario on a table where players are handling the cards. The Dealer waits until all bets are placed on Bank, Player or Tie before the initial four cards are dealt. The players hand will then be passed out, usually to the punter with the...

Am pleased with the responses, and to be honest yeah I have come across as abit of a prick in all honesty and can see why people will think that. I wanted to see where people think I stand and I feel there is a good range of feedback for me to take on board. To be honest I am just a tad disillusioned at the moment. I was perhaps a little over confident and cocky at Aspers and I know I rubbed certain people up the wrong way. But all I ask for...

Tony I think most of us here have been in your shoes and know how it feels... but now know that what we knew then, perhaps more than most, was so little compared to what we have experienced and know now. At the end of the day, you are judged by how you perform. Handle a good game well and your pitboss will give you the deserved respect. Whether you keep your head up or down, hi or low profile, the pitboss is looking for who makes his/her life...

If the technology costs are not cost effective then surely we wouldn't be running it? And not sure what you mean by corporate expense although I would suggest that HR and marketing departments appear to have grown exponentially without appearing to show the required R.O.C.E - or certainly not in my experience - is that the sort of thing you meant? With respect to the Chinese, I am not sure that the Chinese handle / attendance has declined...

To the outsider- without knowing anything i'll take a blind punt- a position was actually needing to be filled and your interview served the requisite "application was contested", should PC standards be questioned. just a guess, mind.

G2E 2009 - Field trip report
Published (2009-11-21 11:39:00)
Went to see 2012 and I can never seem to walk by a Fuddruckers without partaking of the healthy cuisine. This place seems to do a brisk business; it's always full of the local Vegas fauna: cabbies, valets, cooks, dealers, strippers, et cetera...testing their luck. If anyone wanted to do a field study on problem gambling, this would be a great place to set up shop.

Surely you can see the connection between staff wages and the fact that casinos all over the UK and the world are closing rapidly ?
In a labour intensive environment like casinos, the wage bill is by far the biggest expense, and in all but the most successful casinos in the country, if you were for example to increase wages by 20% across the board, the business becomes non-viable overnight, ...

I personally prefer the "old fashioned" approach to applications.
I think it is very "easy" to apply on-line for things. It is easy to just click a button even for things you don't reallly want. If you have to do it the "old fashioned" way it shows there is some commitment and desire.
I also believe it tells a better story about the person applying, gives off a better picture of who ...

This is a voluntary process so only people looking to leave and are willing to leave will benefit.
Obviously people are worried about the prospect of it going further but if there is enough take up on the voluntary process then there may only be winners out of this ?

Presently in the Press room of G2E sorting out badges and whether or not i'll be allowed to video on the show floor. New rules in place this year with a threat given that those filming without permission will be escorted off the premises. Not the best attitude to have IMO but hey it's their show.

Late Bet, you must have taken lessons from LCI / Harrahs on how to run a London casino into the ground with that description. They are so good at it now they only have a few left.
