Toilet vs Shower Chair
Published (2009-11-25 18:57:00)
You have a couple of options: 1. Do your bowel care on the shower chair if you have one with a butt-hole cut-out. Just use a bucket on the floor to catch the stool and empty into the toilet. Some people even do this in a tub. Cuts down the number of transfers you need to do. 2. Get a raised toilet seat like the Lumex (remove the spray skirt) that will give you access for your hand and any adaptive equipment underneath the seat. Can fit most...

My pic is of the hummingbird who made her nest on my clothesline. She did proceed to lay the eggs and rear her babies there - it was really awesome to watch.

I knew it was about you & saw the word "tears" so I just didn't check it out today... I don't wanna cry today. Still though, super cool. You deserve an article! I was wondering how far you had came with your therapy so far the other day. I guess I can read & find out now. __________________ "I think I could turn and live with animals, they are so placid and self-contained, I stand and look...

C2 fracture - need information
Published (2009-11-25 21:58:00)
My neighbor fell out of bed and fractured her C3. There are a lot of places on a vertebra to get a fracture, not all of them as dire as some. She got an X-Ray, a hard collar and some PT. Very lucky was your family member as Polett says.

Danine, great news that you probably won't need more surgery. We can all imagine how exhausting this must be for you, and how frustrating too. Take it as easy as you can and get well soon. I hope the hospital provides a reasonably good dinner tomorrow, but I am sure that S. can be counted on to supplement it properly. Wishing you the best Thanksgiving you can have under the circumstances.

I just re-read your last post scraper1. I think I am in an entirely different situation in terms of how my care is funded than you are. So that would be why I have never heard of being required to pay for stats out of pocket.

I think that it is a shame that you are losing what was a good and important part of your relationship. I think he might see your not talking to him, like you used to, as you withdrawing from him.
If he's no less the person now - I think you should confide on him, and lean on him like you always did.
If he seems to be getting stressed when you do, you can discuss that too. If needs be, ...

I've got a Go-Anywhere chair and I love it. Don't know anything about the New Products other than they're real pricey. I use it at home but its great when I travel because I get it in the travel case in just a few minutes and I'm outta here. It's real comfortable and the cushions are great...real soft...I bought the double-thick one. The chair kinda leans back on its own but you can make ...

IF I knew that answer and how to change our collective focus to one that places more effort on the needs of our community, we'd be a lot closer to a more inclusive society, and a hell of a lot closer to a cure.

one of my caregivers is a big-time twilight addict, so I've already gotten an earful about the new movie.
I liked the first one in a campy, teen movie kinda way. The Cullens have to be the most ridiculous vampires ever! It sounds like the second movie will be great simply because:
1. Edmund is largely absent
2. Werewolves rip vampires apart
My caregiver got all ...

Giving an amount based on hours worked sounds fair to me - and consistant with what the agency had done. Shouldn't be reasons for an issue with that.
The other caretaker - hard one. The easiest is to just treat her the same as everyone else - based upon hours worked. Unless you don't want to give her as much?

Black Friday laptops
I am (shudder) considering braving black friday looking for a laptop for hubby. He just surfs the net, doesn't need or want anything too special.
So Best Buy and Walmart both have a nice cheap one that'd probably be fine (HP or emachines).
Has anyone experienced black friday sales? I think Best Buy ...
