What to do with toddler in a bus?
Published (2009-11-20 22:13:00)
She does need to sit still, because of the braking, etc. as you say. I've found that when allowed a stroller can really help with older kids who need more "containment" on public transportation (call and check because some transit authorities have rules that kids can't be in strollers on their buses and trains-- which I think is frankly stupid if there is room.) But if she tries to run around, etc., yeah, it's...

Cuz getting custody, who to put...
Published (2009-11-20 01:39:00)
What I'd do is this... 2nd row... babies and 11yr old (11yr old going outboard) 3rd row... the two kids in boosters IF she has a 2-seat bench and a 3-seat bench instead of two 3-seat benches, then I'd have a baby and a booster in the 2nd row... and booster, baby, 11yr old in the third row.

Combi Coccoro Flash stroller

Amazon says it will be released Dec. 15. Amazon.com: Combi Coccoro Flash Stroller Frame, Beige: Baby Amazon.com: Combi Coccoro Flash Stroller Frame, Beige: Baby I thought at first that it was a waste, but I used a snap and go type stroller with the Coccoro on our last trip. I think there's something to it.

What WILL fit in a Fit?
Published (2009-11-20 10:49:00)
I did 3-across in a Honda Fit, 2 RFing infant seats and 1 FFing Radian. The particular infant seat that I used isn't legal in Canada. RFing Radian will not work at all on the passenger side and will only work driver's with the seat all the way up. The driver's seat is able to adjust farther forward and backward than the passenger's seat. The Radian won't fit RFing passenger's without bracing against the front...

Trying to put Regent in '03...
Published (2009-11-20 21:50:00)
Thank you! I had no clue about locking latchplates. I will look at it in the morning. The "old" Regent is only 1 year old. What is "minor crash criteria" that you say? I can't imagine it was enough to expire it. We each only had stiff necks. But it only takes one crash to end a life, so if there's any doubt, I won't risk it (just a hassle removing the regent from the minivan when I want to get...

Which seat?
Published (2009-11-20 10:38:00)
MomBoss hated the Radian. She was always affraid she wasn't getting it tight enough. She loves my Titan. Sofi made it to 3 (and could actually still fit for a little while longer) RF in the Titan. But BabyS (MomBoss' baby) is HUGE. She's almost 11 months, 24 pounds (clothed), 11.5 inch torso, 18 inch seated, and total height 28 3/4 inches. She has 5 inches above her head in the Titan, and 6 inches in the MR. She can buy my Titan...

In my Civic, we use cling-on window tint. It's cheap and you can cut it to size. It's also a nice, safe alternative to roller shades that can be dangerous projectiles if they come off the window. My van has tinted windows, so I don't use anything extra.

It's 40 pounds. If you call back you'll probably get a different answer, whereas the people who put the LATCH manual together talk to the higher ups or engineers or something, not just the customer service reps, and they get the real dirt.
So it's 40 pounds for a Honda, Mercedes, Saab, and Acura, 39 pounds in a Porsche, and otherwise 48 pounds for the Nautilus.

I saw this this morning. I have kinda given up on these contests. Too much popularity voting, some people say nearly nothing and yet they've won.

Radian.
Have both. I don't like how high the MR sits up and it has a shorter shell. And no RF tether. So I got it because it was cheap and fit better in DH's car. The advantage is the MR fits in more cars.

I don't actually have a six year old right now, so I answered for my older DD who just turning 8, for when she was six. She was harnessed- she moved from a Wizard to a Nautilus at 6.5, and is still primarily in the Nautilus now because she prefers it. (DD2 is now in that Wizard, and if she doesn't outgrow it by 6 (1yr from now), it will expire at 6y4m, and I imagine she will move to a booster ...

Mine look strange too. Almost as though they have been rubbed with oil. It has only been installed in a car for
about 10 days since we
bought it. Otherwise it has been in our house. I was wondering about it just the other day.

What seats do you have? If they're Britax, which defer to the NHTSA on replacement, I might be okay not replacing them. Other than that, I wouldn't be comfortable with my children riding in those seats again, personally.
