The reason it seems grainy is due to the size increase. This is a tale tell sign of a static adapter characteristic. It's why most people don't use them for serious filmmaking, because if you blow up the image it looks pretty bad. And especially if you pan, you can see the grain move accross light colored surfaces. I can assure you it looks great with a Handy35 connected.

That's very good JS, congrats and well done!
Was it shot on an HV? The camcorder in the movie is an HV20, no?
I might of made the shots which were supposed to be off the camcorder more.... well more camcorderesque. Maybe shot those scenes in DV 4:3 perhaps and even gone black and white. But ah well, you have the rec icon there and I'm sure the viewer knows what's what.

It was about time that affordable alternatives to the LitePanels Micro were released. As much as I like the LPM, $300 is too much dough for me at the moment.

Sure is. The data transfer rate of IDE is faster than FW400, so if you're using that there's only a very slight difference in speed between 7200 rpm IDE vs SATA over FW400.
The main question is that of age. Those hard drives have to be older, so they may not be as reliable. My TM backup drive is IDE and I've had it for 5 years, but I'm not entirely sure how much longer it will last...

That setup totals $115. For $35 more I got my M-Audio AV40s (including shipping), which are studio monitor speakers and the best speakers of this size I have ever heard.
The setup you've found is really good, I'm sure. For getting good audio out of speakers, it's hard to beat studio monitors (they're magnetically shielded too), though. This is a good deal, but not the best I've seen Good ...

As far as I know, the student version you are not allowed to use for commercial purposes. Besides that you need some kind of student authentification to buy it and your school/college-type has to be approved by adobe. You can still use it when you become a non-student, still only non-commercial, though. The upgrading to newer versions is also limited.
Other than that it includes the same ...

CW, I don't have DVDA in front of me but ... (excuse if this is dumb) ... can you not just change the project settings from Bluray to NTSC w/s? It would force a re-render within DVDA instead of using your Vegas NTSC clips though. I usually try out something myself in DVDA before I post with a suggestion but I wonder if that would work.
