XXV International Night...
Published (2009-11-13 16:12:00)
My wife and I just registered for the 5 K event, on December 5, part of the XXV International Night Marathon, Cancun 2009. Cost was 100 pesos per person. If you wish to register for the event, you will need to visit the offices of the Consejo Municipal de la Juventud y el Deporte , which is on the same territory as the House of Culture, but closer to the street , on the prolongation of Yaxchilan. As you approach the building, you will have...

Matkirk - You are too funny. I did see the Google car on my street about a month ago. And yet my street is not in Google Street View, at least not yet. I hope they don't put it in. The bad guys don't need any help casing houses. Of course I'm not worried about my house as I have these well-trained killer attack rescued street dogs here.

Yes. I don't recall if there are constraints on hours. Call them. Plaza Caracol 2, 3rd floor, #330-323 Blvd. Kukulkan 8.5, Zona Hotelera CancĂșn, Quintana Roo M-F: 9am-2pm (998) 883-0272 (998) 883-1373 As I recall, it's expensive and totally out of line with what it would cost stateside, but when there's no choice theres no problem.

And then he says: "Mexico does not require Americans to have a passport. The US requires it for re-entry. Therefore you can not leave with out it becasue otherwise you will not be able to get back into the US." Looks like the result is the same. Get it.

Thanks Coke, so it's not a legal requirement for Canadians but may well cause problems you could do without if you dont have one.

I am positive that you will need your passport to get into Mexico, meaning that the airline will be responsible for checking it before you are allowed to board the plane.
It would also make sense that Canada would want evidence of citizenship when you arrive back in Canada.
I have never heard that you did NOT need a passport in your situation. Heck, Canada now even requires ...

On the thread, Why do you live in Cancun? , I said that one of the reasons we chose Mexico as a place to live was the (relatively) inexpensive and (relatively) simple process of getting permission to live here, if you're self-sufficient financially, or your work doesn't displace a Mexican from a job.
On that thread, I also told of my wife's experience in getting her FM3 Visitante ...

There's a few sites to watch, but the main one for me is the National Hurricane Center. If something pops up with them, I'll start the tour of other sites to obsess properly.

Seriously though, with having such an obvious ' gringo jingo' attitude it's not surprising you didnt have best possible experience of living here.

Have any of you qualified for coverage from IMSS, while in a FM3 Visitante Rentista status in Mexico; and, if so, could you describe how that's done? The U.S. Consular Agent in Playa del Carmen, Samantha Mason, said she knew of one retiree who had. I got the impression from her that both he, and she, had favorable impressions of the services, there, through IMSS in Playa.
If possible, ...
