Primary Colonic Lymphoma
Published (2009-11-07 14:23:00)
Hi Joe Wow that was a bit of a scare for you. It should be OK but I can understand how rules 1 and 2 went out the window there for a while. Glad you got a grip on it again. Maybe a PET scan is in order rather than the CT when you go back in January? When I saw my Doc last he mentioned how tough it must be because even though you have finished and are in remission it never actually leaves your mind that you have had cancer and the fear of...

Discomfort in the Rectum
Published (2009-11-07 22:30:00)
Hopefully someone else can help as I don't have an colostomy or ileostomy bag but ((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))) and I read at another site that the rectum still produces mucus that needs to be expelled at some intervels with a colostomy bag, do you think it could be that way with an ileosotomy bag also? You might want to ask your Dr. or maybe someone here can answer that question also.

Im soo sorry to hear about your mom. The stress wont go away till its over-and that is when she gives up and accepts the fact . Untill then keep doing what your doing and be thankfull for each day she is still with you. Put yourself in her shoes and try to imagine her fear -her confusion-her sadness. Then be thankfull your here to be stressed and be there for her. You cant be any better of a daughter than you are right now you will be strong...

Robotic Surgery tomorrow...
Published (2009-11-07 07:36:00)
[quote="cantexplain"]I just had the catheter removed at noon and peed all over the floor. The surgeon's assistant who normally does the removal had her hands full in an other room, so the surgeon decided he'd do it himself. I'm thinking he's forgotten the Boy Scout motto: "Be Prepared" The catheter came out and I dropped a couple of ounces onto the linoleum between my feet. Not my fault!!...

Lymph nodes removal

I agree with Jean. It's still major surgery. Don't let "keyhole" fool you. You get several such holes, and one of mine is a good deal bigger than a keyhole, I assure you. And like Jean said, all the cutting is still done on the inside. Sometimes the surgery isn't as easy as we hope, as we see from a posting today by Joel's wife. Like Joel, I was in the operating room for about 8 hours, and the next several...

Oh WOW! That is fantastic! I'm so happy for you. You see? You can relax now. You also don't have the added worry of having to find any money for treatment! You should take this as a lesson in life: You need to get some insurance together because if you ever do get sick (very sick) you will need to have some. You should never panic about things as they are usually ok, in most cases. Thanks you for posting your results here as well....

ERBITUX
Published (2009-11-05 11:56:00)
Starting in January, I will go on just ERBITUX. So any side effects I have will just be from that. It will probably take a few months for all the FOLFIRI to get out of my system, but most side effects from that should fade quickly by January. Anyway, what I am trying to say is that I will be able to report just the side effects from ERBITUX. And since I am going to do it for a year (If all goes well) then I should be a great guinea pig to...

Could it be lymphoma?
Published (2009-11-06 10:29:00)
To be honest with you, none of the lymph nodes hurt at all and all were moveable, or at least more moveable than I thought they were. The doctor felt them and he thought they had plenty of mobility as to where I thought they were pretty well stationary. That's why it's important to let the doctor have a feel and see what their trained hands think it is. As for a bloodcount, I really can't tell you since they took one my nodes...

Hand/foot syndrome?
Published (2009-11-06 23:02:00)
Marsha - are you taking the B6 already? If not - you should, my Onc Doc had me taking that from day one on chemo - along with iron pills. I still got the hand foot problems with sore skin and cracking, but I managed to keep working. I was very careful about shoes, went to low and comfy - had to put away the high heels. It does go away though, or at least improves once you stop the chemo. My feet are so much better now, and I still keep on...

Yiour experience is certainly different than mine. On the day of the catheter removal, I was leaking quite badly on the way home from the hospital ( three hour drive), but after commencing the Landry Protocol exercises, I got through the first night without leaking while in the bed and was able to get to the toilet without leaking during the night. I could hold the urine in while walking to ...

My great sympathy is if is hand/foot syndrome. I had to come off chemo last year as my hands became unusable and my feet were so bad I had to buy special shoes designed for diabetics and could not walk with any comfort.
I could not find anything that specifically helped. I had a battery of lotions and potions, but in the end found that a "baby butter" made of chamomile oil and pure olive ...

Hi aisha1
So sorry to see you posting here with such distressing symptoms. You need to take a deep breath and calm down, as hard as it is, for your own sake and your family. Rule number 1 is Don't panic.

If you are writing to say that you are worried because you have enlarged lymph nodes or other symptoms related to lymphoma, but you haven't been to a doctor yet, here is a summary of what we are probably going to say to you:
* Don't panic!
* Don't forget to not panic!
* You probably don't have lymphoma. There are hundreds of things that can cause enlarged lymph nodes, and ...

What have the doctors said? Usually, if it is over 35 u/ml it is considered elevated. it is a protein that is found in most ovarian cancer cells when elevated. The CA-125 test only returns a true positive result for about 50% of Stage I ovarian cancer patients... it gets higher the higher stage. This is argued with many doctors, some relying on it, others not. I would talk to her doctor to ease ...

With your mild symtoms, I'd say that there shouldn't be a problem at all. This could even be from stress/anxiety or allergies. If your temp stays down and you otherwise feel fine, you should be ready for surgery tomorrow. For today, take Vit C and go about your business, get enough rest, drink fluids, esp. water and OJ. One doc I talked w/ years ago would prescribe wearing either a neck ...

My mother went for her colonoscopy last wednesday and the exact same thing happened, they couldn't get the scope past the lesion which has been confirmed as cancerous. Thank you for this post. I wish I had seen this subject explained in the forceful yet balanced way you have writen about this disease. I was one of those people told, you might not need treatment as you have a high PSA but your 4th biopsy, (after 3 negative ones) only found cancer in 5% of one core. I had the surgery on October 26th, I got my final pathology yesterday. My Gleason went from ...

Speaking as myself, not as a moderator, I think:
HIFU is a great, promising treatment. I think in a few years it will be very popular in the U.S., and many men with early or intermediate risk cancer will go for HIFU instead of surgery or radiation, and for many of those men, HIFU will be successful.
(I self-edited this so that the posting was about the treatment, and not a ...

I am sorry you are going through this. Sometimes I think it is harder on our loved ones watching us go through this than it is on us.
There was a poster, who went by Darwin, that had a similar journey as you. Search for her post. Here is one of the last ones she posted;
