Hi maheshams. Here is a link to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Clinical Trials page. It has information about ongoing trials and contact information. But all major research hospital also have websites that give information about trials they are a part of. http://www.dana-farber.org/res/clinical/default.html Good luck.

Hi pbj11 No not really...it never snows on the mainland apart from in the australian alps and then only on the highest peaks. The average temp in my part of the world in the middle of winter is 15.3 C or just over 59. F and we are in the cold part. Darwin is in the tropics and is almost a constant 33.C

But you didn't say "harder to give up," you said "more addicting." Not the same thing. And others don't give up smoking because - despite the health warnings/dangers - there isn't the incentive, for reasons I've already listed. It's not all about "addicting."

Thanks to John (az4peaks) for letting me know that Dr. Tewari is not at Henry Ford. The robotic prostatectomy was pioneered by Dr. Mani Menon, who is director of the Vattikuti Urology Institute at Henry Ford. Dr. Tewari, on the other hand, is another leader in the field. He can be found at Cornell. I apologize for any confusion.

wytyspy thank you for the wonderful words and REB ((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) the stuffing out of you, that is good news to hear and I have not been through half of what you have so I really look to you as my "courageous, thought of the day" when I am run down and weary. Alright! Glad you have a diagnosis now...I'll be even more glad if you end up avoiding the chills and fevers phase that I had to go through. Now, I will speak from a position of authority. Take this more seriously than your ER doc does. You are only a few months removed from chemotherapy and, more recently, radiation treatment, things that have made your body less adept at fighting infection than the average person. If you do not...

It's called despair.
We all feel various parts of it.
Then we slap on our "caregiver" face again, for those we love, and carry on because it's not about us, it's about THEM. I think you "get" that.
Hugs,

Hi mahershams, I am so sorry about your mother's GBMIV. My mother died of one just 2 months after being diagnosed.
We do have a forum where clinical trials are listed. That would be my first place to check. Then I would contact major cancer research centers and ask them if they have anything to offer. MD Anderson in Houston, TX is the USA (and probably the world's) #1 cancer research ...

Oh Oak it breaks my heard to read that your father has not been conscious in such a long time. I can only imagine how hard it must be on you and your family to see him like that day after day. We make treatment decisions based on the best information available and with the hope that it will at least bring us a few more good years, month, or at least days to enjoy with our families. It is ...

Boy can I feel your pain. I lost my Mom on Mothers Day of this year after 1 1/2 yrs of living with cancer. I remember looking at my Mom while talking about what she was facing and the sadness in her eyes as she was a vibrant person for her age until the darkness of cancer set in and slowly took that "life" out of her. I cannot imagine what they go through knowing what we do (the family.) You ...

I've had the same thing, basically, only mine has been swollen for over 10 months! It's going down now.
No other symptoms for me either, only 1 swollen gland that has pretty much waxed and waned for 10 months.
I also had some flu symptoms recently, and after that was done, that's when the gland started going down.
It's gotta be a good sign!

And our prayers are with you, fella55. When I was diagnosed, my wife and I talked about the fact that my illness doesn't guarantee health or happiness for a while for our loved ones. This, sadly, is the situation with losing your father so recently and now your mother's illness. So we have lived on eight months, during which time our various kids have bought a house, announced our first ...

Hi SingleDad,
Well, I can't say that it's the same for you, but for _my_ foot infection, over the course of two months I had three different oral antibiotics and none of them cured the problem, so I was sure that I did not have an infection. But it turned out that gravity was my biggest enemy...due to all of the swelling, blood just couldn't circulate the meds down there to clear out the...

G,
You didn't say how many cores were positive or what his psa was.
Bascially with a Gleason 6 that is contained every local treatment produces the same results; about a cure rate in the low to mid 90%.
There is a lot of talk about cyberknife, but it is a focal therapy and PC is usually a multifocal disease. In a recent Boston study 63% of the men considering a focal therapy had...

Lucinda, as I read this post, I was filled with sadness for you and your husband. It is so hard to go through this once. But twice? At the same time, I am filled with admiration for the two of you. It takes a lot of courage and inner strength to face what you are facing. Be assured that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Monell,
You come here and vent and rage and we'll hug you and get upset with you and understand. We'll also pray for some brains to be put in that selfish SOB's head.
The true mettle of a person comes out when faced with a bad cancer diagnosis and her husband flunked the test. How awful for you to see her being hurt beyond what the cancer is doing to her poor body.
You ...
