Negative ads have prejudiced voters against Michael Ignatieff, and brought Stephen Harper within reach of a majority government. The Conservatives now lead the Liberals by about 10 percentage points. The situation seems unlikely to improve. The Prime Minister's divisive partisan tactics have diminished the public's respect for politicians in general. In just four years, he has changed the tone of media coverage and public discourse,...

Ignatieff had an opportunity to unseat Harper but he threw it away because he would have had to cooperate with Layton and the NDP. Today's Libs will never make an alliance with the NDP. It's just not in their makeup. To the contrary, I think most Libs blame the NDP for splitting the vote and keeping the Libs from their rightful place as natural governing party .

http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2004/0 ... 1symb.html well, considering the source, perhaps not? but it is a story making the rounds 'round here. Just the first ref. I found. "The torch relay that culminates in the ceremonial lighting of the flame at Olympic stadium was ordered by Adolf Hitler, who tried to turn the 1936 Berlin Games into a celebration of the Third Reich. And it was Hitler's Nazi propaganda machine that...

Any Liberal or NDP politician who is not in favour of this plan is not a good Canadian. It is the only way to stop the Conservatives.

The old fac system required a certificate for possesion of all firearms, a criminal background check and a weapon safety course along with a waiting period. Thing is thugs of yore didn't line up to get a certificate or bother with pesky gov regulations just as they don't to-day, don't know the rational behind the libs thinking a registry would sway thugs thinking and would have them running down to register their arsenals. Similar to a ship wreck and the crew rushing to the lifeboats and pulling off. Honor and sacrifice are a thing of the past. I'm OK Jack is the mantra. Lip service only and some people still buy into it; in spite of, all the evidence to the contrary. Such is 21st century life, and it may have been so even in the past. The peasants are just becoming more aware, and all they can do is squawk anyway, since seldom is anybody held accountable....

With Devries now into the semi finals, Tofino townfolk poured out of the village and on to the beach. Locals walked away from their jobs, businesses simply locked their doors.

Gun-control advocates say they are horrified and fearful that Canada's long-gun firearms registry is on the verge this week of being scrapped because the Conservatives may have enough support from the opposition to kill it. The best news in a long time from the CPC's. The gun registry was ill conceived and a knee jerk reaction by Martin's Liberals. Unfortunately, it is a couple of a billion ...

Soldiers are highly trained killers. Many have mental problems after spending some time in war conditions. Many troops are on their ...

Really nice. Many years ago, before there was an untreatable form of TB, I used to get raw milk and make my own butter. Summer butter is very yellow with winter butter being more pale, both tasting just great. Old cream and such is apparently returned and made into salted butter which keeps a very long time in comparison to unsalted butter - that's why it is often frozen at the store. Unsalted ...

Scientology is having some bad press lately. Paul Haggis quit very publicly this past week. And there was the trouble over John Travolta's autistic son. Scientology doesnt believe in autism. Personally how anyone can believe in a religion created by a B list sci fi writer I'll never understand.
