Hello everyone, it nice to see a few more participants. Anyway Pablo and Simone are involved in the decision making as suggested. RSM Richter will not investigate anything. Their job is to mop up the mess. I reiterate we need to have committees formed to advocate for each investment/project because not all of us are in the same projects. Sorry to sign off so quick but I have to attend a meeting I will sign on later today. Cheers!

For the Resorts, the investor interest was built into the OM. I think it was like 3.5 million or something. It was all spelled out in the OM. Buy the land, get approval, alter land, sell the lots, pay reps, pay investors interest, pay principal, pay remaining to SCI parent. If all went according to plan and Allen Beach sold for what they were predicting, SCI would get 4 million or something profit. I'm hoping that it is still on track...

I regret to inform everyone here that I can no longer communicate on this forum. For official communication, people can visit www.sci.ca or even www.sci.ca/forum. You can ask questions of the receiver and they will respond. I wish everyone the best. Thank you, -Pablo Galvez

Well, here's the good news. This post will not be my 5th challenge to meet in person tomorrow (as I originally suggested a number of weeks ago). Yes, 5th, 10th whatever. It only illustrates your inability to read. It is obvious that although you claim to be "flying" all over the country meeting clients, when one challenges you to do so in a public forum such as this, you refuse. Gee, I was even going to post my full name right...

Hardly surprising considering virtually none of the stimulus money went to individuals (in need or otherwise). Cheap credit largely dried up about two years ago... when referring to actual rates paid by your average consumer such as rates on credit cards. The main investment concern here of course is the need for the consumer to drive the economy. Skyrocketing fees and taxes will only compound this problem, not to mention the "jobless...

Shane, You did answer my question as to the acronym SME ... thank you. Unfortunately, you haven`t answered the question as to when the decision to not issue T2124`s was. As you cannot remember when you posted it on your office wall, and you have no recollection of this ``landmark event`` can you disclose when you became aware of this decision? I can ask many other questions, but perhaps leaving you with just one might actually illicit an...

I am an investor in the Resorts and CONB (2nd mortgage). I know that I am going to lose all of my investment in CONB because SCI sold it out from under us at a firesale price. It would have been better for us if they had gone into receivership first. We might have been able to see at least some of the project finished and sold. But, considering the fact that they paid 40 to 65% more than the buildings were worth in the first place, I imagine...

Suggest you look at Bridgegate @ the investment beginners thread. If something sounds too good too be true, watchout. This doesn't seem like the best time to be investing in specultive real estate.

I've never heard of them, nothing on gloveinvestor, yahoo finance or DBRS either. I googled them and their website it's pretty sparse on info. They seem to have retail properties in Westminster, California, and parts of Minnesota. Where did you hear of them and their bond issue?

Manulife is an insurance and investment company. Being consider a safe sector by investors. Manulife is I think the most important insurance company in Canada. Safe sector and Manulife pay dividend. But between Scotia Bank and Manulife - I prefer Scotia Bank. Own 103 stocks of BNS and none of Manulife. I don't like Manulife as an investment. Don't ask me...

You should probably take a bit of time and read: http://forums.canadianbusiness.com/ thread.jspa?thr eadID=85&tst art=0 There has been quite a discussion on these scams on these boards. CRA is actively pursuing these and seems real keen on reassessing everybody involved in them.

A good general approach is to sell funds that have consistently under-performed. This is a strong general strategy for investment as a whole: keep the winners (let them run) and get rid of the losers. Many people get "stuck" holding losing investments because of psychological reluctance to sell the bad ones and "realize" a loss. Don't make ...

What goes up, must come down. Real estate went up way too fast in a short time. BUT, interest rates right now are a steal! I would say it might be a good time to buy. HIstorically, the cheapest ever.
Media is a huge factor. People aren't buying anything (real estate included) because of media hype around the recession. Who knows how long...

Yes I did. The CRA has just sent out a letter disallowing the deduction. Not sure what is going on now, can't get any real info from the CRA, Synergy has assured us they are supplying CRA the information they need but its not looking good. What do you know?

I've been getting phishing emails for years from various banks (even in the US), paypal, ebay, you name it. Just be smart enough not to click on the link and enter your information. Also, keep your anti-virus program up to date, hopefully it has anti-phishing. Unfortunately, not everybody is that smart, and people seem to prey on that fact.

What do you mean "pay back"?
You collected GST on behalf of the gov't. You must remit it. It does not belong to you.

US gift tax is owed by the giver. Since your father is in Canada, he is not subject to the tax. He can give you a million bucks if he wants.
