...and healthcare reform has begun
Published (2009-11-08 23:12:00)
Original Post by cajunrider : I don't like the current healthcare situation much, but I have no faith whatsoever in government healthcare - NONE. I've worked in Canada and Europe and have seen the healthcare there first hand. Then recently my wife has a major illness. If we had been under the same rules for England, Ireland, and Canada for my wife case, she would not be alive today. That's a good...

if you're eating proper portions you should be starving on 1100 calories. I eat well over 1800 EVERYDAY and i'm 4'11...so look at your choices. here's a sample of a BALANCED meal plan. I find that a lot of people overdo what they think is HEALTHY and their diet becomes terribly imbalanced which is why it might be hard to get to the appropriate number of cals. B: 1/2 cup oatmeal (dry) [150] 1 cup yogurt [120] 1 banana...

interesting ques about weight...
Published (2009-11-08 07:12:00)
I'd say to record your weight only once a week even if you step on the scales at other times... Over the course of one or two weeks you can see if your body-weight is significantly different. Over the course of one or two months you can tell if that change is permanent. Time of day doesn't really matter but most people, for vanity reasons, will weigh in the morning when they are likely to be lightest.

Daily Weigh Ins?
Published (2009-11-06 17:28:00)
Original Post by amethystgirl : I weigh in daily. I've been doing that for about 2.5 years, and it means that I am pretty good at understanding fluctuations - I know what will cause a rise or dip in the scale, and it doesn't bug me. It helped me adjust my calories when I saw that I had gained a few pounds above my goal weight. I am not preoccupied with weighing. I weigh in the morning, and don't think about it for the rest of...

bingeing is often a physical response to a shortage of energy. 1000-1500 cals isn't a 'binge' in and of itself..... eating to the point of being ill or in glassy-eyed discomfort might make it a binge.
Bingeing could also be a response to stress Breaking down when looking in the mirror is an over-reaction, being honest. If you don't weigh you can't possible say that you've put on weight....

I've been eating either a small meal or healthy snack about every two hours, almost on the clock. The goal is to boost my metabolism... I have more energy, but haven't been doing it long enough to comment on weight loss.
Makes sense to me... I think if I ate every hour though, it could turn into mindless grazing.

Low carb diets have their downsides and good points. Eating a low carb diet does not generally mean that you are going to gain it all back when you eat them again. The whole point of it is to cut out the bad sugars/carbs and reincorporate healthy carbs into your diet. Good carbs being veggies/wheat breads, wheat pastas, etc. None of that refined stuff. Many people have a tendency to go cold ...

Superbowl is a worry for me, too. I am still debating on what I can eat while everyone has nachos and cheese and meatball sandwiches and beer. I thought perhaps I could have wine instead in a small glass so I can control the amount. If I have that towards the end of the game, I can look forward to it. Also, I'll make hotwings (or buy them) and cut up veggies. As long as you don't feel ...

My friends bf is vegan. Her and I had a similar conversation as this. She explained to him she would no longer be able to 'service' him due to this reasoning. He quickly decided it was acceptable behavior.

I will be aiming for 100 running/walking miles, but other distances/fitness goals are ...
