Hi You are missing the information on the resistance to tipping moments and you will have to ask for this information. The loads quoted are in line with the axis of the rails you need the ability to resist loads at right angles i.e. lifting the bearing off the rail. These rails are often used in pairs being placed back to back on opposite sides of the suport frame and pre loaded to give the desired resistance to tipping as well as improving...

Whoa, gotta disagree on the face milling. Love my face mills. Just got my third one and it is a doozy. See my web site for a review of the 3" 45 degree Glacern face mill: http://www.cnccookbook.com/index.htm Just search that page for "Glacern" if it isn't at the top of the blog. Cuts real sweet! Help diagnosing 6TB axis problem

Does it leave a bad finish turning or facing or both? First guess would be bad axis bearings, followed by a bad/shorted motor. Did you blow out the motor with air when you did the brushes?.

From my limited knowledge I wouldn't bore a hole that big with an end mill or certainly not one that big in one go! I'd use a centre drill first, then proper twist drill out to 11/16" say then use the boring bar or if you're confident the mill is tight, use a 3/8" end mill and circle pocket out to 11/16" then finish as above.

Not sure about the random movements, but there's a couple things you can do about the random limit switch hits. Under the general config menu you can change the debounce amount up. I'm running 10,000 on the debounce.
When I first started running my machine it was almost unusable, it would hit false limits about every 10 seconds. Adjusting the debounce helped, but what really helped was ...

do you mean a drill chuck?
drill chucks can't handle the side loads of milling.
I've seen a yahoo at work pop a chuck off the taper trying to mill with it.
the only time you should use an endmill in a drill chuck is for counter boring a hole,
and that's if you don't care much about it blowing oversize from runout.
stick to collets, endmill holders or TTS for milling.

I am in the process of switching my bridgeport over to servos. I would have all three reactors from my mill available. I have all the parts ready, I just haven't had time to do it, and I don't want to start taking it apart until I know I have time to get it back together. If you're not in a huge hurry, shoot me a PM and when I get things apart I can send you one.

I've used Autocad for years but just for 2D DXF's to use with my CAM programs .
The new versions are fully 3D capable. Plenty of cheaper and easier to use programs.
The Vectric and Meshcam programs are very easy to use for CAM.
For CAD you have to decide if you need 3D capabilities or not.
DXF creation should be a must.

Nobody had their hands on one of these then?
If I buy one (see if I can wrestle the money off the wife) then I'll post some information.
I am going to contact the seller and see if they can provide some more pictures and info.

Not adding straight water is new to me, I do it frequently. But you do have to be careful, don't just pour a bucket of water over the machine table and then just leave it; that is a guaranteed way to get rust. Pour the water in the coolant tank with the pump running and circulate everything to thoroughly mix it. I had mentioned elsewhere that a good way to keep the coolant oxygenated is to take ...

50mm is almost a 2 inch bore, mine is only 1.5.
50mm will give about 304 lbs of force @100 psi.
You would only need about a 3:1 ratio cam lever to activate the drawbar.
20mm is .787 worth of stroke, the drawbar needs to move less than .100.
You can use the stock drawbar with a triple stack of bellevilles ()()(), that'll give enough
deflection for the collet to open.
A 3 to 3.5 inch ...
