Published (2009-11-30 01:17:00)
Well I was telling this to some one recently and they said "well I guess you have saw dust in your blood then." In my blood yes, but even though my dad was a good ol boy logger for over half his life. We only fell a few trees together, and I was only a kid. He did teach me how to bust a$$ and work hard. It's a long side story that I'll drop into a nut shell. My partner was pegnate and we were living in Tucson. She was...

ANn saddle I have tried with a central attachment like the one pictured, made it hard to breath. That design seems to be gaining popularity!

sean, yes, i would agree that fruit treee pruning would merit a rate than big tree prunings, takedowns etc. there will also obviously be alot less greenwaste to dispose of and lots less risk etc. here there would be an advantage to smaller operators who can vary their trucks/equipment/crew to the specifics of the job, rather than the big compnaies like bartlett who have a high overhead ...

I attended a couple seminars on palms here in florida, where the presenters advocated sterilizing hand saws between trees, to prevent the spread of palm diseases. 25% solutions of either bleach/water, pinesol/water, or lysol/water were recommended with a 10 minute soak time. According to one presenter, in some high end properties with particularly expensive Phoenix palm species in the ...

What a crappy place to cut your self. Speedy healing! Handsaws are way underrated for being dangerous, they cut like butter!

If you go to Kauai,do the Napali Coast trail hike, it's stunning, only about 2-3 miles but a major workout, rugged terrain. Bring water and take your time, trekking poles came in handy for me, silly as they look. I did the inner tube tour of the irrigation ditches that carry rainwater from the mountains to the old sugar cane fields, it was actually pretty cool, very educational. The ...

High tension binds will always carry risks for the sawyer who steps up to relieve the binds using conventional wisdoms. Undercuts, bore cuts, sap cuts, combos of all, and then finished with a tension cut. None of those is a full guarantee to prevent slabbing out or barberchair. Though some other preventative measures a sawyer could use to help avoid risks could come by tying or binding...

I recently got to try the "real" rope guide, and all I can say is WOW. I practically fell up the rope on my first try it was so effortless. I have bean hemming and hawing about getting one, but your right, it's alot of $$$. They are ground retreivable. You would put your rope through the link on the end of the line...a little ball or tiny link goes through the pulley and gets ...

What a joke. Bureaucracy at its finest. I love your buddy's solution. Using a gas generator to power an electric blower, is like giving big brother the proverbial finger. You'll need one hell of a generator to run an electric chipper.
