QUOTE (lugnut @ Nov 15 2009, 09:34 PM) QUOTE (Jeff686 @ Nov 15 2009, 10:29 PM) I've found that doing some minor fitting and polishing is frequently helpful with all sorts of mechanical stuff. You got that right for sure!!! Primer slide, etc. No kidding.... I just had to deal with a press issue. The little ram that seats the primers is not dropping back down to allow the primer...

Hornady LNL questions
Published (2009-11-19 10:49:00)
I never understood the need for a device to empty the powder drop. With the bushings in the LNL- just take it out and tilt it upsidedown to empty... much easier and faster.

Schuemann ultimatch barrel question
Published (2009-11-16 00:56:00)
i was at a USPSA match today (i used the jacketed bullets the seller gave me, i didnt want to risk my unsure load yet), one of the guys that had the same configuration as my gun has, is running 1.135 OAL on his. with that, is OAL really a preference now? some of the guys i've asked said longer OAL reduces the rounds play inside the magazine, some say longer OAL helps slide better on the ramp. some too said that shorter OAL actually is...

Setup F The targets are 10 feet from the front of the box. The front of the chair is set 3 feet directly up range of the back of the 3x3 shooting box. The back of the chair is facing directly up range (unlike the diagram). To use these par times, you must use 1/3rd scale targets. The distance relationship is changed if any other size is used. The targets should be spaced 2 feet apart, edge to edge. Movement Skills: 1) Start standing in the...

On the older Projector presses without the LNL bushings, the case activated die just screwed in, and you had to remove the powder measure from the powder drop...

QUOTE (Bob Ghengis Khan @ Nov 14 2009, 08:46 PM) Thanks for the reply. One more question, how many turns counter-clockwise from the fully closed position will go to the fully open position (I hope this makes sense) captive screws or set screws dont stay where you put them. I include two screws with the block...one short one long The short screw when tight gives full gas flow The longer screw when tight reduces gas about 50%...

Cartridge gauges with show you if you are over the max. Max OAL for 9mm is something like 1.169" for 9mm luger although many don't load to that length. You need to make sure the mags and gun function with any length. 1.150" for that bullet should be ok in most guns.

QUOTE (Duane Thomas @ Nov 18 2009, 03:44 AM) I think the OP knows he needs a longer OAL, what he's asking is if the stuff he's loaded can be fired safely. I don't see any reason why not. Larry, when it comes time to load new stuff, just do a few rounds and measure the OAL, get it where you want it, before cranking out mass quantities. Thank you everyone. I knew I wanted ...

Low light stages are pretty much the same as regular lighting cept they're dark! Hee Hee! Most matches I've attended are very safety directed. Low light pushes it up a notch. RO has to be able to see. Keep people back further from the activity. Sweep the range between shooters, quickly to make sure there is no brass left to interfere with footing. (We put on some elaborate scenarios ...

To verify chronograph was operating correctly i check with std velocity 22lr ammo and a bolt action rifle. Then shoot a ten shot group. This ensures that you have not made a setup error on your chrono and of you set it up properly it is in fact operation within specs. Get the barrel diameter checked. Then ensure projectiles are correct for barrel i.e. .001" - .0015" over barrel groove ...

It sounds like you could probably get the Bear Creeks to run if you shorted the OAL by a couple of tenths. I had a similar problem with Precision Moly 45 230gr RNFP at 1.250, the ogive was hitting the leade of a Springfield but good in a Schuemann barrel. By going to 1.220 the load worked in both and the Glock worked with either length.

It's pretty easy to set up and use if you have any experience reloading at all. The trickiest thing is using the powder thru expanders with small cases like 9mm. It takes some fiddling to get it right- but once it's set it cake.

QUOTE (tverho @ Nov 18 2009, 02:07 PM) Hello, a simple question to the adventurous ones: Is it technically possible to resize 357sig cases into .40s&w? Has anyone done this? How long is the resulting necked up case? Need of trimming? Thx! t tommi I'm not sure how one could re-size a .357 Sig case to .40 S&W. I believe the mind in general is desperately under tapped. And I believe we see evidence of that everyday. I like the Egg vs Anvil discussion because it illustrates that the brain left alone can accomplish a hell of a lot more than what we can get ourselves to do through intent. Defining it doesn't mean as much to me as understanding how to "tap" into it. At times I feel I am able to ...
