I recently purchased a Furuno 620 and had an Aimar B60-20 10 Pin Furuno thru hull transducer installed to complete the package. My problem is, when I am under way, the unit will sometimes lose track of the bottom and give me a depth reading of 4.66 ft ,when I am in water I know to be deeper. If I turn the unit off, and then right back on, it reacquires the bottom with no problem. I can be going ...

Hi crew, Ive been researching buying a boat from the US, like so many other Aussies have done, and have settled on a lovely SeaPro 238 WA which I can't wait to get my hands on. Like so many before me, I have the issue of the trailer being too wide for our Sydney roads. so what I am looking at doing is purchasing one, or having one made in the US which meets our transport ...

DAnny, the cracks are developing because that area between the sponsons has little or no flex at all. I saw a few Carolina skiff catamarans do this exact same thing you are talking of. if the boat starts to pound, then the sponsons will flex inward or outward. The result is a crack forming in the area where the sponsons connects to the underhull. Does not take long to spread once it begins. Have...

Hi there, I have 2 x 150 2001 Optimax with Smartcraft. The engines are running great but I have a fault on the DDT that I cannot fix. The fault is MAP INPUT HI and if I reset the fault on the DDT it comes back on immediately without even starting the engine. I have tried swapping the MAP sensors across the 2 engines but the fault remains with the same engine. I have checked the connections on the...

Hi, I just had my 1997 115hp Johnson rebuilt. I just bought the boat in July and found out a couple weeks later that I had piston damage. I got the boat back Thursday and put it in the water Friday and was generally pleased but I do have some concerns. She ran very well but on at least three separate occasions after stopping, the motor was difficult to start. Each time I squeezed the ...

This is a practically new, one owner, 1974 engine, 20" shaft, stored indoors since first put in service in the summer of 1976 on a 1975 Boston Whaler. Engine has about 100 original freshwater fishing hours on it, from a few short summers on northern Lake Michigan in Kewaunee WI, and has been stored un-used since 1983. It looks like a brand new engine, glossy original paint (perfect condition ...

Just a heads up for anyone who gets this mag. I had a subscription for a year. Decided not to renew. Issues quit coming. Simple enough. They sent me all manner of renewal solicitations but I never responded. So now I get a call from the wife while I am out of town. Says that I got a letter from a collection agency in the mail. Letter states I owe $35 for the magazine subscription (shady in ...

I was thinking about towing my boat down to Florida from North Carolina and making the run over to Bimini. The wife and I with my daughter and son-in –law think this would be a fun vacation. Saw a place on the internet called The Sea Crest Hotel, Looks very nice. I tried to pull up any older posting for any information on where to put in at and park the tow vehicle, What’s the best time of year ...

thunnus - 9/1/2008 7:23 PM CaptainKevin: You think the four-stroke suzukis (that you sell ) are stronger than the a two-stroke etec? The independent test cited above and common sense make your assertion ridiculous. What common sense says that a 2 stroke will have more torque than a 4 stroke?

I didn't get much damage during Wilma, just some minor roof damage. I did have a nice canopy over my driveway that came down on the boat, my truck and my brand new Acura TL. The boat took some scratches but nothing major. That was the week I put the new engines on. They got some scratches before I was even able to start them. The new Acura on the other hand....... The back windshield ...
