Yes, for the moment, conservative and safe approach to let the shop handle this. n wrote: I don't see a CMOS "Safe Settings in my booklet, and yes I think I will play it safe and hand back the computer without risking warranty. For recent Gigabyte mobo's, in the BIOS Setup chapter, look for a heading in the user manual similar to: Load Fail-Safe Defaults This should give details of how to load the safest BIOS default settings. RDee

A couple of things to check/try... Is the motherboard BIOS at the latest level? Check the manufacturer's site. Have you installed the motherboard chipset drivers? This sounds like it might be an interrupt conflict. You can use System Information Viewer (aka SIV) to have a look at what devices are in play, what interrupts are in use, etc. Regards, AB P.S. When you remove/swap USB devices, I assume you are using the Safely Remove Hardware...

I have removed for now the internal modem. It made no difference to the fault. A very old Netcomm IN5699 modem. When I return the computer for repair I will reinsert a internal modem again , so as to make it easy for them to connect to the net via a dial-up modem to reproduce the fault. My motherboard is mentioned in the forums below: GA-EP45-DS5 Crackling Sound http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/ga-ep45 ... und-27556/ EP45-UD3R: Rear USB ports...

First he could hardly walk, then he could no longer speak and he used a lightwriter to type and say messages.(The lightwriter has text-voice ability) see-http://www.mndaust.asn.au/what-is-mnd/ for more info Now he can hardly move his hands and fingers over the keyboard and the lightwriter is no longer sufficient. Recycler is the Recycle Bin. It contains a folder for each user on the system - the name is the user SID. You can delete it and Windows will re-create it as required. cheers, Paul

Yahoo Messenger would probably use a module from the Internet Explorer engine. That's why the IE engine was so important. Have you recently updated IE? Have you recently updated Yahoo Messenger? (Maybe you should update YM). Have you recently updated anti-virus and anti-malware measures? In the meantime, there are several alternatives until you sort this out. I prefer not to have many of these "phone home" apps sitting in memory and slowing startup just so they can phone home and tell me whether there is an update. Microsoft does act as a distributing centre for things like LAN drivers etc... but only if the independent vendor bothers to keep in touch with them. I haven't run ATI for a long time, will do soon because of the mobo I bought, but nvidia ...

currently i'm working one for the Xmas specs. if you are going down the road of budget system then i can't stress to go down the AMD solution, the CPU are cheap, MoBo have better integrated Video. the upgraded version of 780G to 785G are lot better and runs slightly cooler than the 780G. match that with AMD Athlon X2 5050e witch is 45w cpu so it runs lot cooler than any other AMD CPUs. the ...

Bummer Dude! It gets really hard to play when the IE is messed up because IE is closely bound to Windows and share common . DLLs and stuff. We can spend lots of time and effort chasing these errors and trying to solve them. And what's wrong with your machine may be different from another person's case. You sound like you have three problems. Your IE7 is having problems. You have leftover IE8 ...
