I don't see why Stan has to clear the cap space in March. I'm sure plenty of teams would be lining up to trade for Versteeg, Barker, or Sharp in June if they became available. We don't know exactly how much cap space the Hawks need to clear to sign the big 3, or how much of the cap cusion if any they are using this year. But my best guess is that they need to clear about 8mil. Let's face it, nor Campbell nor Huet are going...

You have to split Bolland and Kane...they are the two playmakers at F...especially with JT out. Sharp and Kane seem to mesh really well. I can see putting Ebbett on the #2 PP ahead of Kopecky (but Kopecky played a role in Brouwer's PP goal the other night, by going hard to the net and wreaking havoc), but Kopecky is so much better as a defensive F, and on the PK that He should be in the line-up over Ebbett all the time. Plenty of bright spots, Bear. Huet's found his game--I thought that was pretty evident when he made that glove save with Legwand falling on top of him. The only goal they scored Huet had NO chance at all. He hasn't let in a bad one in 3 starts. I think he should be given the night off tonight but if Q really thinks he's got it they might as well trot him out there again... Brent Seabrook was back! Obvious bright spot. I thought...

That's a really interesting idea - but I suspect that teams outside of the original 6 division would complain about it being unfair (whether that's true or not). It also might be tough to make the schedule balanced. How about making 5 divisions of 6 teams each - forget the conferences - and make it so that the division champions get the top 5 seeds in a 16 team tournament for the playoffs?...
