Went from a street riding kid (they didn't have sidewalks where I grew up) to a street riding adult. About the only down time was when I was 16, until a couple years into the Navy. I started riding again while still in the Navy, and pretty much keep riding... even daily commuting when I was on shore duty. I do get frustrated with idiot motorists from time to time and put my bikes away... but I always seem to eventually go right back to...

We are working on this here as major changes are planned for our city and I have been one of many giving input to council and committee on what I think needs to be done. The bottom line is that we need integration and better facilities on and off the road and know that if we build it, they will come. If cycling is seen as a viable option for shorter trips of less than 10 km and people see that these trips can be done in safety and in...

Nice idea for a list. Boulevard East - which runs through Weehawken, West New York, Guttenberg and North Bergen - offers spectacular views of NYC. Sunrises are lovely: Liberty State Park & Bayonne Bridge are also good choices, in a similar vein. Off topic: I did Breakneck on Saturday. Yikes. Thanks for spreading the word on that one...

I'm having an identity crisis, and could use some help from foosters. I've been an avid bicyclist for all of my adult life. For four decades I've been a roadie, commuter, tourer, sometime MTB rider, and full time two-wheel junkie. I commute year round, have way more cycling shorts than jeans, and think a car looks naked without a roof-rack. The...

I could not recommend an old one, personally, as most well designed MTB's should have had good BB clearance. However, as a general solution, people have purchased 29'er MTB's and then put 26" wheels on them to get both the frame design and ground clearance they desire. Here's a link to one by Clever Cycles, a Surly Karate Monkey done in 26" fashion: http...

NO ............ Only a skid jack which is capable of raising one loaded skid a few inches of the ground. Then to roll the whole affair across the floor 2 or 200 ft. Got my new Mars 4.0 rear blinkie yesterday after losing my beloved Superflash (I don't even know where I lost it!).
