OK, so after some personal conversations with people about this, we came up with some explanations here. When I told Dave that I have "up to" a 5M connection, and only downloading "up to" 450 kbps, but only on way off peak hours (1 - 5 am), I ran a speed test (server less than 37 miles from my house) and got just over 4200 kpbs. I agree with you, Sarah, about not caring if someone fed the cat or washed their clothes today. I typically don't follow those people on Facebook or Twitter. But I don't blame social media for that misuse of the tool. It's a part of people's exploration of the medium. First off, be sure there are no Windows updates downloading. Start your task manager and look for wuauclt.exe. If Windows is downloading updates you'll want to wait until it's done before you try again.
Assuming that isn't running, look to see if there are any instances of msiexec.exe showing in task manager. If so, go ahead and end the task. Then try your install again.

I love a good deal. I like to (jokingly) refer to myself as a "cheap bastard" -- although some might say it's no joke.
And here in OC we pay $9.50 for a movie ticket. Ugh. And the "cheap" theaters are few and far between. There is one about 20 miles from my house that offers a "$6 before 6pm" price, but I'd spend more in gas than I would save.

Is that much packet loss considered normal for your ISP? Have you asked them?
Anything greater than say 5% would be considered high, and having to resend up to a quarter of transmitted data means your effective speed is reduced and latency increased.
Having at one time had Clearwire, I would suggest ensuring that the modem has as much signal as possible, and that you aren't using ...

Hello and welcome to BBB! From the WLM menu go to Tools / Audio and Video Setup and make sure you configure the mic volume from within WLM and let me know if that helps.
