Yeah I read in one mag that they'd decimate fish stocks even more profoundly than otters......... Not bad considering they're a herbivore!! Damn yank must be wrong coz if they do get reintroduced to the UK our ones will be staunched carnivores!!

Yet there is one red hot topic I've never really dared tackle: breathable waterproofs. WHY...

The Alternative Assumption?!?
Published (2009-12-04 07:04:33)
Yes Dec, but if enough "river" anglers join the Angling Trust and then lobby them to do something about the state of our rivers, they (the Angling Trust ) would not be able to ignore us. The problem is, it wont happen over night, and most "anglers" like to bang the keyboards but as for dipping there hand in their pocket to achieve something..... we they just dont. I suggest you and the rest of the Ouse clan...

Ive used minnows for barbel on a few occasions, similar to you in fast water on the bottom. And would do so again without a problem. Ive no problem with live
bait as a method, I just tend not to because frankly im poo at catching it

Thanks for starting the thread.
Just incase anyone gets confused - this for the River Tame which runs through Stockport.
At the moment fishing on the river is free however, Stockport fed are looking to take it over. So, enjoy it while it lasts.

Hi Dave,
My vote was on changing species to suit conditions, therefore maximising catch rate. (hopefully)
BUT
Maybe if I lived in the Bridgnorth area my selection may have more along the lines of fishing for barbel even when conditions were not optimal.
A simple case of where I usually fish barbel are DEFINITELY NOT the dominant species!!

the truth is out there, but the truth is far, far to PC, so it will continue.
as for them damn cormorants, wilsonS right, there should of been a cull, but really, there was no chance of that thanks to the power of the RSPB.
the threat is not just rivers, its lakeS that are ...
