Jumping issues

QUOTE(Blackdawgs @ Nov 27 2009, 06:51 AM) It is a huge mistake to rely on trainers, massage therapists, and chiropractors for veterinary diagnoses. Neither our club instructors nor I (as club secretary) would dream of doing so. We often spot suspect action that the owner is not aware of, or the owners discuss problems with us. Whilst we will tell them what we think it might be with the benefit of our experience, we always...

QUOTE(Conner22 @ Nov 27 2009, 01:21 PM) I have repeatedly posted I think its a training issue , and I have repeatedly posted people who know him best do not see any issues with him playing agility. As in he is PHYSICALLY SOUND. I ONLY posted about the injury because I think it DID factor!!!!! Well, I made my suggestion earlier. Assuming that the dog is sound, I recommend Susan...

QUOTE(Eileen Stein @ Nov 28 2009, 03:47 PM) Mariji, you are seriously overstating the health risks (if any!) in extreme white border collies (other than mainly white dogs produced from merle to merle breedings). I would really like to see you cite some authoritative studies supporting your statements. I am especially surprised to hear this from an Australian, since I understand one of the top sheepdog...

I'm on the side of the shepherd on this one. City-zens should not interfere where their food and clothing comes from.

QUOTE(pammyd @ Nov 27 2009, 05:28 PM) Its possible if he was jumping when he was sore then he sees jumping as something that could hurt him and so isnt commiting 100%? Personaly if a dog is dropping bars I would drop the bars and then bring them up slowly, randomise them up and down so he has to look out for the bar and not just jump the usual height - if the ground is a little lumpy and the dog is just clearing jumps without...

Ooooh! You're way beyond us then. Nice nice pictures you've got. I really got sucked into looking. It was the Lacamas trial and Patrick with a Boston Terrier, it didn't look like Pablo. I've just seen pictures of Lucy (usually with a costume on). Laura

Our last lesson Sita was allowed to frolick behind the sheep in her own little bubble of zen. In the last month Sita has since discovered her crouch, and apparently her prey drive as well. Here are pictures from this afternoon when my little 7 month old hippie collie had the light bulb come on. I'm gonna get em' Are you watching???? I get it now! I think she is licking her lips ...

I absolutely adore your little split face monkey Fabulous shots, have fun with your new toys. Ohh... and you should TOTALLY use that 50mm f/1.8 lens indoors - it might surprise you. Outdoors is great, but not in bright light. Try it somewhere where your regular lens wouldn't have stood a chance. And then you will feel the love

Read that the other day. I see both sides of the issue, but know, unfortunately, in the end, the ranching way of life will be lost to atvs/mountain bikes and hikers. I'd go with the Susan Salo puppy jumping DVD if I had a puppy. I really like her Foundation DVD.

If you can get ahold of it, I highly, highly, highly recommend the Susan Salo Foundation Jumping program (it's a DVD). Her idea of teaching jumping to a dog is a little different from any that I've heard. Her program seeks to teach the dog the mechanics of jumping, independent of the handler. A friend of mine had a dog that dropped bars and she did the very first exercise in the Susan ...

Then he found out what border collies are best at. Soon after, he realized what his favorite pastime would be. Finn, much like his owner, soon got to meet some of his internet pals offline... ...and grew a long coat just in time for the hottest days of summer. Trips to the lake with friends is a current favorite pastime. At a year, he's still got a ways to go, but if we've ...
