Iranians make up 1/4 of Dubai's population, indeed more than UAE citizens or any other nationality. But getting back to the economic aspect Dubai will not...

I quite agree Kallumana, Barc looks a little shaky and everybody is still willing it to bounce. So the risk is clearly on the downside. The sp has benifitted positively over recent months, vs the negative RBS spin in particular. But this story is very old.
I got out of Barc at 317, having averaged up from 110 and thus did very well, but there was no skill in this, other than technical!
I say ...

carlitoab,
Barclays have publicly stated that their exposure to Dubai is negligible since the crisis hit
But bear in mind that its the fear exposure that counts not the facts , this is a shre that got driven down to 47p not so long ago on fear alone
Never underestimate the power of fear
Then when it went to 360-380p every retard and his dog wished they had ...

They distinguish between futures-based ETCs and physical ones:

"As I have been told time & time again A profit is better than a loss even though it was only £60.00"

true, but as the saying goes: "run your profits, cut your losses". and over the near/med term its looking as if barc has got legs to push up further.
each to their own i guess!

Apart from Barcap and a fw others - could you all shut up and go somewhere else? It's like a kids' playground in here. It's almost impossible to get any decent comment on Barclays shares.
I was considering selling part of my shareholding today - but then looked at the fundamentals - profits increasing year on year... think I'll hang on to them. I just hope the comments on the board become a ...

No. Its currenty ~20point down. I still feel there is room for short term improvement. And If anything I'd open a short for the same amount. Wouldn't purely close the long.

I hope all of you boarded the bus now after the breakdown on Friday. We are now travelling North on the M1 and then A1(M). Our destination is Aberdeen for £10.00, Edinburgh for £7.00, Leeds for £6.00, Sheffield for £5.00, Milton Keynes for £4.00. In the meantime, this share will play snakes and ladders, but we estimate to reach Edinburgh in Feb 2011 and Aberdeen by Feb 2012. Sir Barcap is our ...

"RBS and LLoyds had massive cash injection by HMG and who did Barclays turn to .....the Arabs yes... not loooking good boys and girls for Barc."
trader98 - Barclays got recapitalised from Abu Dhabi & Qatar, nothing to do with Dubai. Abu Dhabi is cash rich from oil & gas & Qatar is cash rich from gas.
Sharp as an egg.
