H1N1 Causing Some Panic
Published (2009-11-06 17:12:00)
I'd like to throw some numbers out that I learned this week: Of patients presenting with flu-like symtpoms (fever, malaise, fatigue, body aches) 46% have influenza. Of patients with influenza, approximately 95% have H1N1. H1N1 is a pandemic because, by definition, it is a communicable disease that is spreading through a wide geographic region. It is also an epidemic because it is causing a number of cases of influenza that vastly exceeds...

Wow. I haven't been on one of these lists in a long time. Quoting PlymSpotter ( Reply 1 ): Good god, I can remember when you had to make 78 posts just to get on the bottom of that list, let alone top it. Yep. Things sure have changed, unfortunately. Quoting Sunshine79 ( Reply 2 ): Don't they have better things to do, have a life or go to work??? Work all the time. Life, not so much these days.

Quoting Enilria ( Reply 78 ): Your other point seems to imply that no other start-up airlines should enter U.S. market (which is by far the largest air market in the world) and that's crazy... There will always be people who think that they can make a buck flying planes. Most of them will be wrong. Quoting ThegreatRDU ( Reply 77 ): But they're buying load factor which is just as bad... I they are completely committed to MKE . I also think they must find the present situation extremely frustrating. A year ago, they probably thought they had MKE in the bag. Quoting FUN2FLY ( Thread starter ): So far, all we've heard is OGG

My uneducated guess would be CO hasn't announced anything for international expansion because with the Star Alliance beginning at the end of October they were focused on making that a very smooth transition. With the alliance up and running ...

Having endured some remarkable situations, and knowing that the cabin staff have seen much worse, I would imagine that the ruckus must have been terrible.
Hats off to Southwest for recognizing the rights of most passengers to travel without excessive suffering.

Thank you for opening this off season F1 thread.
The thing that immediately comes to my mind is that there will be no more Max and Bernie which in itself is certainly not a bad thing, we have seen much too much of these two.
I am not sure how the gnome Jean Todt will fare. Let's wait and see. We will have plenty of time to find out. 2010 will give us a good idea.

QR is speculated to announce an order during Dubai Air Show but aircraft type/made is not mentioned anywhere.
During the year another order is expected by TK , but I doubt about an order of A380.
Boeing and Airbus vie over big upcoming aircraft orders.

How much more does it cost 1 airline to operate 2 different brands? Seems like a huge waste of money to me.
