i would try a new oxygen sensor and new plugs first also the 4.3L engines were bad about burning up caps and rotors if yours are over a year old i would replace them better spark would mean more complete combustion of the fuel air mixture and less N0x gases the new 02 sensor will make for less nox gases as well because it will run leaner with the new sensor as did my 4.3L in my s-10 when i replaced it way better on gas mileage now than before,...

Read the manual and follow it. Kia built the car and would be the expert on how to take care of it.
Modern oils are much better than they were when 3k miles was the recommendation. Modern engines are better too. Both of them make it very likely that you can go much farther between oil changes.
I had a 91 Mazda that recommended 6,500 mile intervals so its not a new thing.

My light goes on and off and I don't know what to do. I have 57,000 miles and I think I have a warranty until 60,000 miles. Should I take it to the dealership or are they going to run a bill up!?!?!? I checked the oil and it looks like it is between the 1 and 2 marks so I don't think that should be it. What do you think?
OK it is the malfunction indicator light. The manual says: this light ...
