happened on this just now - a maybe useful option from IKEA : http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/00138309 great minds think alike, or something like that (not exactly the same - our idea was to have notches rather than slots, for the wires to come out, to hinge the lid to allow more orientations, and to build it in flush - but pretty close) !

That switch will not send any X10 commands, it only receives them. Also how many X10 modules do you have and what codes are they all set to. I need more information about your set up to be able to give you a proper solution.

It is possible to inhibit the output of a motion detector from feeding into the presence logic. I use this to inhibit motion detection whilst curtains are being opened or closed. You can connect the output of one motion detector to the inhibit of another. So you could try using hall motion to inhibit landing logic. Of course, this also means that there will be times when the landing will not come on since there is coincidental motion in the...

I screwed up with my order and selected the wrong MoBo, but nice people at Linitx are taking it back and I have a parallel order on its way to me tomorrow. The MoBo now on order is a Jetway JNF76 VIA NANO 1GHz (which is fanless) http://linitx.com/viewproduct.php?prodid=12381 It'll be housed in a Travla TE-1160 1U Rackmount case, which has arrived already and looks very well designed. http://linitx.com/viewproduct.php?prodid=12276 It has...

Re-heating (!) an old thread, but I never quite sorted this out earlier in the year then it got warmer and issues around heating became less a concern. Now we're back to winter..... As I understood the suggestion, I'd be using the 'whole house' fallback rather than just fallback for a single zone. However, I'm already using this feature for setting a holiday/away mode - ie prolonged temperatures lower than the normal...

We support Individuals and small businesses in setting up and running their computers. We have had a few clients as about Home automation and controlling via their PCs (or Macs). Typically the brief is. To be controllable via Ipod touch (wifi enabled house) to be expandable avoid proprietary systems unless good reason not to (x10 is mentioned a lot, also BBSB domia lite Harmony ?) as well as on/off dim-able also programmable e.g. socket off at...

Thanks Peter That would make sense but mine is happening when all the HR80 are set to 5C i.e. off. I think it will have to be a long journey of trial an error to see which HR80 is sending the signal if any! Kind Regards Scott

Hi Scott. I haven't been on the forum for a while as I've basically given up hoping to find a fix to this. I forgot about it over the summer but now the heating's back on again it's annoying me once more! So far as I've been able to understand the system is designed to cycle so long as the ambient temperature is within one degree (or something like that) of the set temperature. I suppose the logic of this is that the...

Martin, I had the same with a DFP seeing outside one bedroom and onto the landing. My solution was very crude involving a tacky substance that was coloured blue. Joking aside, can you mask off the PIR with labels cut to suit to see if that helps and then maybe something more suitable and discrete if proven OK? Peter.

good quality six or whatever socket strips are pretty inexpensive, and current-wise the demands are quite modest, so our plan is to neatly bury everything (13A sockets, wall-warts, USB & Ethernet & CT100 patch-panels, whatever) inside box compartments fronted by a lift-up flaps, with the flaps having notches for the leads to come out ... and the hinge(s) on the lower edge of the flap and the ...

I suppose it would certainly be technically possible but question is what. Certainly from the point of view of preserving an IDRANet backup supply it might be prudent to de-energise redundant relays for example and dim any DFP displays/LEDs, or conversely deliberately turn on some module LEDs if its dark to help navigation?

I tried a couple of different Ethernet to Serial devices with no success (Lantronix and Digi) as well as three USB adaptors. In the end I had to add a serial card into the PC - which was a shame as it too is a limited expansion type machine - had only one slot available. This meant I couldn't add the voice modem card :-( K

Hi, thanks for your reply. I started a thread on this over a year ago and have read all the various comments on this issue very carefully. Several people have suggested a communication problem but that's not it. The HC60 would show a red light if it did not receive a signal and had reverted to non-communication mode. Moreover the cycle times respond to having the parameters changed in the ...

Hi JC, There are several systems available that may also meet your needs, perhaps better than x10, which would require quite a lot of integration to link up all your requirements. My personal choice is the Idratek system - there's quite a lot of activity on the Idratek specific forum here on AH, so you can get a feel of what it can do.

ouch - presumably nothing else suffered - a colleague once got stung by some sort of short in a nearby junction box in the street outside, which took a few of his appliances out ... did you you have some sort of surge protection - eg: as comes with some power strips, or better ? Chris
