Since the Qantas Club is a lounge access programme, if you do not want lounge access, then indeed there is no reason to join. As far as the price goes, the annual fees are a lot less than that at around $360 a year ( the rest it taken up with a one off joining fee ) and there are a lot of corporate schemes around that may bring the cost down to as low as $200 for some corporations. A ...

My current spending method is everything on Amex 1.5:1 as much as possible. Then non acceptance transaction will go into CBA plat for 1:1 QFF... and once it reaches cap, then I use NAB visa 0.66:1. so if CBA drops the rate to 0.5, my dilemma is I would put all visa transactions into NAB instead of CBA, because earns more point and unlimited...Both cba amex and mc will go into the draw...what ...

A lot more places seem to be doing it now (because they legally can, so why wouldn't they). I usually do the same as you and end up putting half of my purchases on Visa. What gets me is the fee is never uniform, ranges from 2-5%. If they're going to do it, there should be guidelines so some places aren't just doing it to get a bit of extra $$$ for themselves.
