Nothing obviously malicious in your reports. If you think that I'll be able to fix your system in one or two posts, think again. You have many things that need to be taken care of and absolutely do not make any additions/removals from your system without my guidance. This will take several posts, if you're not up for the task let me know now, please. HijackThis Removal You're running HijackThis from your desktop which is...

John, I would urge you to not manually delete any restore points. But just to view them (really the folders) ---they are in folder System Volume Information. To your #3: Seems to me you are way too hesitant for not going forth with clearing C:\Windows\Software Distribution\Download folder. You do NOT need to save it at all. There's absolutely no need to save. Yes; you have to turn off the update service before deleting --- as I have...

Hi Robear Thanks for the reply. I do not know why but I never received a notice telling me of your reply. No big thing I checked the forum today and found it. I do not have a windows disk, Compaq partitions the HD and uses it as the disk. System restore will I assume do a clean install. I down loaded SP 2, contacted ZoneAlarm and received my license code and ZA's un-install program. Un-installed ZA, then re-installed ZA and SP 2. System...

Hey again, Maurice Followed your instructions, though I had to restart and run it in Safe Mode because I kept getting an error message none stop (something about overclk.exe). It's all good now. For you 'search/find' ease: 11-19 MBAM (most recent MBAM scan), 11-19 GMER, 11-19 OTL Moved, and 11-19 DDS 11-19 MBAM This scan was last night; found 2 more files, removed them. Hello Chet, If you have followed the Quick fix protocol and nothing was flagged, that is an added indication that the issue is not malware related. Have you run Avast once in Normal mode & once in Safe mode? and got what results? A review of your log doesn't show indication of malware. What is the version/edition of MS Outlook?

Without knowing the many things you tried it's hard to give proper advice. It does seem like that there is some error when one of the registry hives is being read. My first suggestion would have been to boot up in safe mode and attempt using System Restore in an attempt to restore the registry to an error free status. Have you tried that already?

Hello, I am glad you are back accepting posts. As always, I appreciate your help. Although the computer seems to be running ok, the task manager always shows "My Emusic" as running. When I check the process associated with it, it show internet explorerer as running. If I end the my emusic program, its just restarts again. Also, I noticed in one of the logs there are a huge number of shady ...

Which computer do you want to address first, your friend's computer (this thread) or your computer ( http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=42722 ). I'd recommend getting your computer addressed first. To avoid confusion (yours and ours), let's have only one thread going at a time, please. Thanks.

Hover your cursor over the icon in the quick launch bar, then right click and select delete. This will delete the item from the quick launch bar but not delete the file. Good Luck

Hello EDirtch and welcome to AumHa forums, Some very recent malwares can block usage of anti-malware tools. So I suggest you run the following and post that log in a reply here. I need to see these reports to see if we can get a better clue about this system. Download and Save to the DESKTOP Win32kDiag from any of the following locations and save it to your Desktop .
