You know the clothing 'factory outlet' stores actually have different products than the main store and buy for those. Like, a Polo factory outlet isn't the same quality or product that they sell in their main stores. They make stuff specially for those outlet stores. So, this is the same sort of thing.

That does not sound right for sure. Try resetting the receiver to its initial settings first and if that does not fix it then you should contact Marantz.

There is timbre, which would mean the actual sound characteristics of a speaker, while tonal quality would suggest to me that a speaker more accurately produces a sound to the original. It is a bit vague, though I would tend to equate that with a more accurate or "flat" speaker. Wattage rating means litte. Driver size can influence timbre - using the exact same drivers will give you a closer ...

Well, publicly, I've been rather quiet lately. You know, picking up people at the airport, having guests over from India and the Nebulon Galaxy has occupied much of my time.
I looked around for that guy Brucer in some of the woodworking or woodturning forums in Texas but nothing much turned up. The raffle of 1/17/05 supposedly raised 10K for him and I was hoping to locate him and get some ...

Congrats on the speakers, Alex. And I'm glad you made it home ok. I would love to hear a top notch omnipolar rig someday. Someone I know heard some MBLs and his description was extreeemely flattering.
Hopefully it's cool to post Matt34's old thread, that shows the speakers at a very early stage, and the modification plans:

I guess it all depends on how HOT you like to run your bass compared to your main.
