Fault Code - 18354
Published (2009-11-02 09:56:00)
Possible fault with the fan unit tbh as its related to this, maybe water in the module, is it on a wet day only given location of the fan unit, the control module is built into the unit, you could try swapping the unit out for an ebay or scrappy one to see if fault is still happening. What version vagcom was he using out of interest, limp mode usually throws a code to give some possible reason for the problem.

a couple of problems.....
Published (2009-11-02 18:41:00)
I've not read your other posts to know what you have tried. First ideas would be a pssoble MAF problem, or maybe the vanes in the turbo being sooted up, or possibly even a fuel pump issue. I doubt Evans Halshaw would have full VAG-com, that needs to be your first step really.

I see.. cheers for the info everyone. So it's a bit hit or miss with plod then.. suppose it's worth a punt anyway. Don't want any special size or anything just standard but pressed as I think they work well on VAG cars. Think I'll try Dubmiester. Cheers.

I did just think that fault code didn't match up to the problem I have with my horn when I posted that
The car is a 2001 Audi a3 TDi, ASV engine.
The alarm does work though, as it sounds when I leave the windows open and don't press the interior disarm switch.

Hightower I've answered your other thread. I'm not far from you, so come and have trip out and I'll show you how they should go
I drove a few before I settled on mine, and some of the 2.5's are very sluggish, whereas some of them really fly. Certainly don't settle on the first one unless you're 100% happy. They can be prone to fuel pump, and variable vane turbo problems, both of which would...

A MAF is about £100, EGT's and Lambda's I believe are approx £100-150 each (there are 2 of each - but 4 lambda's on the very late S4's), an N710 is about £60 and no idea about a thermostat, but do know it's a cambelt off job so you're looking at up to £500 for the parts+labour for that.
Also worth thinking about a replacement silicon hose set. Autobahn88 kits off eBay are good value (think ...
