Your MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor measures the amount of air entering the system. If it's not reading correctly, (to low for example) then the car is sucking in more air than it thinks and doesn't adjust the fuel level correctly, causing the O2 (oxygen) sensor before the Catylitic Converter to read that you are running lean (not enough fuel). The MAF is fairly easy to clean, but if that was the problem, more likely than not you would...

If you are upside down on the loan, it does not make financial sense to dump her. It sounds like you have done most of the mechanical maintenance associated with the suspension, hopefully you have done the TB service. I would keep her and make sure to take care of the snails, warm up and cool down. I had to make the same decision a couple of years ago, the turbos went and I was still paying ...

Damn, man, that really blows!
Left the tools behind? That's retarded... a police report and a few fingerprints should be able to help you out on this one... or, like you said, 3 S4 rims without centercaps in a small town shouldn't be to hard to find, and take justice into your own hands (without putting yourself in jail of course).
BTW, the links go to some yahoo login...

If you switched from dyno to synthetic you're probably going to want to
change it before the suggested 8k or whatever it is.. It gets nasty quickly
if you make that switch. I'd stick with synthetic though. The cost / mile
isn't much more unless your shop is jacking up the price.
