From a pure non-technical perspective, it's good. Low system resource usage, low level of installation problems, low intrusiveness on user experience. This in no way speaks to it's ability to detect and prevent viral infection though. I'd love to see it in the next public AV Comparatives review, but considering Microsoft OneCare's performance in those tests, I doubt it'll rate that highly in actual virus prevention....

QUOTE (The Manta @ Nov 5 2009, 12:33 PM) Everything changes. And IMO that's a good thing- a place that doesn't change to meet its memberbase is soon doomed to being obsolete. Too much of the vocal userbase is msyogynisitic, unthinking, uncaring, and thoughtless. And I don't mean anybody in this thread, so far. Probably no more powerful than your P4 chip there. lulz The P4 2.4GHz NorthWood would kick the everloving shit out of any netbook Atom CPU. See hmyah . MBP output to 24" screen
Published (2009-11-06 12:30:00)
QUOTE (stynomite @ Nov 6 2009, 11:19 AM) Can you tell me if the 15" or 17" MBP has an IPS screen? Both of them have 8-bit panels (i.e. full 24-bit reproduction), but I'm not sure if it's using IPS or PVA technology. IPS is preferable, as you get a colour shift at different angles with PVA panels.

You should probably mention why. The 1156 socket has 66% of the power connections compared to the 1366 equivalent, and thus relies heavily on the solid contact of each pin on the CPU socket. Bad contacts means high resistance, which, from what I gather, means the remaining pins draw more power to compensate. The result is a fried CPU when the CPU is pushed too far. Does this affect all ...

Try using a third party partition tool like can be found on UBCD. http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ EG Ranish partition manager, some of the manufacturer diagnostic tools also allow for partition wiping. You also need to find out why the error and given the partition issue you may have a dodgy hard drive so I would be running a full diagnostic with the HDD manufacturers diagnostic software....
