CAMHS and child protection meeting?

I've tried for 2 years to get SS involved and assess my son and myself/family. Every time I phone I am given another number. Never managed to actually get through to whomever would actually do the assessing. I assume that my son's assessment would be different department to the carers' assessment??? Not seen hide or hair of them since. No phone calls ever returned. Am in the process of getting school to do a CAF form. That was...

support in college

Sorry to hear that, Mel. On the whole we have been pleased with the level of support L has had in mainstream college although she has now been there four years now and is desperate to leave. They have a fairly good awareness of ASD, partly because there is so little alternative provision in our area so a lot of young people end up there. K x

Going pale can be a sign on anxiety. In frightening situations, the body can draw blood from the face to concentrate its resources on the parts of the body that enable you to fight or run away. This is obviously not a useful response to the kinds of situations that might make your husband anxious, and over an extended period of time can make you feel light-headed and unwell. People with Asperger's often find they have to work quite hard...

I deciced to go and watch his classmates to try and show him i wasnt affraid of the hall. All the children and parents gathered in the hall the concert started. there was singing dancing lights on and off, and over by the door was my son and his...

I would say if your seriously thinking this and that it turns out you could do it, you need to get urgent help and support, your local A and E will listen to you and ensure that you get help straight away, your in a very large family that will make it very difficult to ensure you get your needs met, it maybe that your whole family need further support too so that they can understand your ...

QUOTE (baddad @ Dec 3 2009, 12:59 PM) Hmmm... Just noticed that despite being the third of December nobody around here has got xmas deccies up yet. Not that i'm fussed - Most years I'm moaning about the people who have them up in mid November - but it's really odd that there are no early birds yet nailing LED Rudolph's to their front doors or stringing life-size santa dummies from ...

My mum could have written your post, and I think she's on the spectrum too. Firstly your approach to work is not typical. As you already know, most people given the chance will pass their work over to someone else if they are willing to do it. And they don't even pass over the good jobs, they give you the worse ones that they don't want to do themselves. So, if you can, try slowly to do...

QUOTE (KezT @ Nov 23 2009, 09:43 PM) Ok, we have decided that we need to get DS statemented in time for the move to secondary school. he currently has a full time LSA and help out of the classroom (before school/break/lunch times) and definitely needs this! The school is mostly funding this themselves, and the funding they do get is re-applied for each year, so absolutely no ...

My girlfriend has two children who both suffer from aspergers. Several months ago, the older boy (almost 16) approached his mum and told her that he wanted to be a girl. He was very upset and told her that he hated his 'bits'. He also claims to have told his teacher in his special needs school (although no word came back to his mother regarding this). To fill in a little bit more ...

The Headtecher is not a medical proffesional and cant dx or undx a child with AS so dont worry too much of his opinion as that is all it is, and there may be underlying reasons why he has this apauling attitude. You could write a letter of complaint to the Headteacher and request urgent support. As you have a supporting evidence from her GP and her DX the school have to meet her needs, ...

I am not surprised you refuse to send her. It is disgraceful that your child can escape from school and nobody knows she is missing. I have no idea what you should say to the SENCO sorry, but I do know that a child has a right to be safe when they are at school and to me that means not roming the streets. I am really lucky at my Dd3 's school she tried to escape once when she first started,...

We knew Ds had some differences, and as soon as he started Nursery, and watching him interact as party's we knew we these differences were starting to become difficulties. I had a role; my job was to fight, and fight hard that DS would recieve all the support he was entitled to. We would all go to every meeting. We would read up, print off and attend every meeting well-informed and with ...

I'm sorry I have no personal experience of this. I would recommend you speak with the National Autistic Society for advice about this. They may have information, or be able to give you someone to contact. I have heard of similar issues, so you are not the first. I just don't know what recommendations or outcomes are possible. Are you entitled to Legal Aid or Legal Help. Find out, ...
