Government did create this mess, but not because of the stimulus, it is because of deregulation. Wallstreet investors were like a kid in a candy store with no rules. Compared with the bad scientific practices shown by the doubters, this isn't that much of a huge miser.
Besides, there are plenty of other independent organization that have backed up the science that aren't involved into this.
