hi all, I found this thing I was writing a few years ago and never really finished. I think it's really flawed but I'd like to think some of it could be salvaged. So, I'm posting it here for comments. I think it makes sense in some ways but in an abstract way, removed from our lived experiences. As in, I think the pieces makes distinctions that are reasonable logically but that in our lives are not really so distinct or at least...

Quote: The second point about vanguards isn't moral, it's due to the obvious problems that vanguards cause in serving their own interests not those of the wider class and eventually creating a new ruling class. Talk about missing the pont mate. If we want to discuss this one tho, basically as the phrase is used by anarchos it varies on the context and who is saying it, what the term actually means. It's usually just a bogeyman...

you're right, Switchblade. it diminishes the influence of the movement. there was some discussion of the possibilities of creating a new national organization at the recently concluded Class Struggle Anarchist Conference in Detroit.

You missed the 9 Thesis: 1.Worse is better for now. 2. (Anti)social science friction must be studied in earnest. 3. If the ends do not justify the means, what can? 4. All concepts of justice are defeatist. 5. Retreat forward. 6. The white revolutionary - an american oxymoron. 7. All positions of withdrawal must be (re)considered from a point of view based on the new strategic demands. 8. Out of ...

The way I understand it, but I have never really look into the matter, the Bourse du travail is more of a labor community center paid for and owned by the municipality. Unions got space and subsidies in it in proportion to their respective share of the vote. (but then, many radical unions and some community groups manage to get space inside the Bouse du travail so there's some politics involved ...

From someone involved in the occupations and occupyca website Quote: awesome! though to be honest, it's not so much a worker's movement as exclusively a student movement... many of the militant "workers" are actually ISO plants, and the unions and some student groups (i.e. those student groups that try to organize workers) have been so proactive in speaking on behalf of the workers and ...

in the 2006 elections at SEAT CGT came in number two also, after the UGT. UGT got 40% of the vote. SEAT is the largest industrial enterprise in Catalonia, tho it has suffered the sort of downsizing that has thrashed the Spanish auto manufacturing sector.

Yeah. It seems to be of some notability in that fuzzy area where ultra-leftism, post-leftism, insurrectionism and critical theory bleed into each other.

I think the US is so particular a circumstance that it is very hard (and perhaps irrelevant?) to discuss it in the same context as other first world countries. That said, I believe a major fault line here would be the lack of cohesion within self-styled anarchists. As Black Flame brought up, when anarchism is defined loosely as antistatism -- very much the case in America --, it loses its focus ...

I believe that nationalism in general is becoming popular in Latin America, and Chavez is attempting to bring back the idea that Latin America should be a singular nation. I believe that reason people are losing faith in this idea in Africa is because of the many dictatorships which have risen because of the claim of that mantle. In Latin America, the "socialist" governments have been overthrown ...

Based on my reading of french anarchism and what I know of the rest of mainland european anarchism, you are preatty much the last kids on the block to come to these ideas... Seriously, every french anarchist-communist group I can think of have left economic reductionism beind between the late 1970's and early 1980's to embrace the "New Social Movement" (wich are getting quite old theses days...

Living in colonised land, south west U.S., and coming from a people (Chicano) who are subject to colonization I find this to to be a very interesting topic that until recently hasn't seemed to have received much attention in anarchist circles, be it class-struggle or otherwise.
