The tweeter assembly's came UPS today. I will probably do a setup next week with my son to show him what the inside of the speakers look like and how they work.

BRubin: I agree with you analysis that you don't want a big center with micro sats. Unless you upgrade the size of the sats, it might be better to go with the Polk.

dsrussell, buying anything in the dark is pretty scary, and unfortunately in this internet age, it isn't always possible to find a local audio store to audition everything. I've bought most of my equipment in the dark, and resold what I didn't like, for a small loss. Most of it isn't carried in the local stores, some of them were older models, some of them required to be special ordered, and just as important -- I trust...

There's really no way to tell until you get everything set up. Responses aren't always equally flat across the range and subwoofer placement changes the way it sounds as well. Luckily its easy to mess around with. Usually you don't want to go too terribly high into the upper part of the range of the sub, but you'll just have to see what sounds best. Merry Christmas to you.

Most yes, but alot of people like to see just the raw speaker; and there is a few that might not know about the stuff that happens to the speaker(s), even if they just sit there.

I understand now, bi-amped with the one amp handling mid-high freq's on both speakers, and the other amp wired for the woofers. So it could just as well be an amp issue. Possibly a high freq abberation diverted by crossover to the tweeters. Sounds like you've got more than enough two channel power with the two Rotels driving 250W each - a true 250W. Beastly power. Do you really even need the second amp. If you do repair it, I guess...

Jonathan, the service you and many others provide are extremely important, not only to the novice, but experience buyers as well. And you are right, not everyone can audition a speaker system. I laughed when I read your trust in car dealers, stereo dealers and reviewers. The worst audio purchases I have ever made (and I've made a few in my day) were an open reel from Pioneer and an integrated Amp/Pre-amp and separate tuner from Pioneer....

KBIC, i might consider an insignia TV as it uses LG parts, heavy emphasis on the might, even then i'd be really hesitant though, but yeah anything else insignia is probably best left on the shelf. saw a review for their HD radio tuner and it was pretty bad.

Honestly there's really not too many cheap was to go around it when it comes to audio for the tv. You have options, but you're probably looking at 2-400 deeper in your pockets than you expected. You can't just hook up speakers without a source, yeah you can find speakers at a cheap rate on amazon, but the receiver is whats going to cost more... Then there's the new option of purchasing a ...

Elettra: First recommendation is get a better place to set your receiver, they need to release their heat or you cook the electronics. A lot of your good receivers are high current and many tend to be hotter than the stuff from a decade ago. $600 puts you in a more difficult place in most brands, as this is the end of the low lines and beginning of the more expensive. Automatically you ...

You are basically talking yourself into a Home Theater in a Box system, wait a little longer until you can afford a bit more ($750-$1,000 is a better cost range for QUALITY). A quality 5.1/7.1 receiver will run about $300, buy matched speakers (Klipsch 5.1 Quint 2 are $250-$300), and GOOD subwoofer (250-300 watts), QUALITY speaker wire (expect about $100), and my personal recommendation a ...

I just bought an Infinity 350 and I love it. They have a less expensive version- the 250 I believe, and that is supposed to be nice too.

RK: One thought, in wall speakers make a rather large hole in your wall, and fixing that wall later (if you move or rent), can be quite difficult. If you're rich and have a down stairs theater, and the design is long term, no issue.

RTong: With a room that size, you really need to stay with smaller bookshelf sized or satellites. Everybody's going to ask the same question, how much money do you have to work with?

NXG Technologies NX-PROSUB300 sub=174 and Polk Tsi 300 floor standing speakers= 199 each Plus buy some other polk surround speakers to add to it. I just took the risk and bought that sub above and It was way more than what I expected; goes down to 22hz and transformers never sound so good before because the effects really shakes me. I feel gunshots and the bass are not too tight nor boom...

BB The Bose speakers are the 901 Direct/reflecting speakers? You only have a pair right? If I am right then use the 901's for the rear speakers. Do you have a price range for this set up? There are many options so some limits would be helpful to narrow your choices down.
