B.B., it will also appear on your Archive list on the Kindle for PC application. Some people have said that there is a "Trash" spot on the "Manage Your Kindle" page where you can put the book so it doesn't show in your list of Archived titles on your device, but I haven't had time to check into it to see if it works.

At the height of the Napoleonic wars the poet Thomas Campbell attended a literary dinner at which he proposed a toast to "Napoleon Bonaparte." An angry clamor broke out among the patriotic guests. Campbell raised his voice and continued. "Gentlemen, you must not mistake me. I admit that he is the sworn foe of our nation, and, if you will, of the whole human race. But gentlemen, we must be just to our enemy. We must...

Bobby's Trace, a Novella by Edward C. Patterson on the Kindle for $ .99 Do ghosts mourn the living? Perry Chaplin is in mourning for his life partner, Bobby - a time of stress, notwithstanding. The more he drifts, the more he becomes unhinged until he's one room short of a rubber one. "Get a grip, Perry." Andrys, I wasn't talking about the original content of the PDF. It was my understanding that Amazon's solution to supporting PDFs natively is to turn each page into an image that continues to reflect the same layout as the original PDF, as if you had taken a screen capture of the page. I've read on this forum that such PDFs can't be searched, highlighted, clipped, and the font size could not be changed. Of course, if you...

You might want to go to decalgirl's website. There is no need to come out in 4 or 5 colors when this kind of choice is available and can be changed so easily. Skins, that's the answer.

Bufo, you've mentioned recovery services stickers a few times. What is it? I live in a dinky, out of the way town with nothing like that. Does it have a wider range than local? Thanks. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

If this works could you get them to release the mass market version of books the same day as the hardcover? It would be cheaper and then we wouldn't have to wait a year to buy a new book.

jo, if you have the shipper's contact information, I would try giving them a call--they probably have information about your package in their computers and could make sure the address is correct. I would call tomorrow, since you expect the package then.

I agree witht PIN # idea. If you lost your kindle, then it would be instantly 'bricked' to whomever finds it and the temptation for them to keep it would be less. (I'm sure there will be talented people who can break the PIN code or get it reset through Amazon customer service, but at least it's a deterent and will probably buy a little time to get your kindle de-registered.) A bricked ...

I think the same customers who wanted the DX before will still want the DX now. Those features are nice, but screen size is the main selling factor, IMHO. I don't have a DX, but if I was interested in using my Kindle for work related purposes, for text books or reference books, then the DX would be my Kindle of choice. The change to the K2 would have little impact on my reasons for wanting ...

If I were to buy Kindle edition; would that mean money spent on Audio edition is lost? First of all, not every book supports text-to-speech. Publishers have the option to disable this feature. Secondly, this is a mechanical reading of the text. If you prefer listening to a book, I would think you would much prefer the audio book. Will Amazon enable read aloud feature (audio capability) for ...

If you have to build yourself up by tearing others down, you may be insecure. Same goes for selling product. I did have to read the manual to understand what "Next Page" and "Prev Page" meant, though.

Xbox, I have pre-ordered a Nook (and own the Kindle). I don't think the Kindle is ugly, but the Nook has a number of intriguing features, as well as the possibilities opened up by the android system. You will probably get a lot of negative responses here but certainly more than one ereader can exist in the world and some of us have more than one!

I will write a 'blurb' about a book that's available on the Kindle, but without giving away too much information. The next poster should guess the title by putting in the link to the Kindle version of the book. Then, post a blurb for a different book. For instance: If I posted, "A superflu destroys most of humanity leaving a few survivors to battle evil." The next poster would post, The...

I love author anecdotes! Like many writers ( Ernest Hemingway and Graham Greene, for example), Twain often labored over single words. "The difference between the right word and the almost right word," he once remarked, "is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug."
