Yeah, that was the plan, to create a huge stock pile of ammo. I'll go everywhere that I can to get the components, just so long as I have the necessary skills and equipment to create my own ammo.

Just a little sidebar regarding the whole fallout stage, it took 250,000 people to contain the Chernobyl disaster. 250,000 workers. This is the list of reactors in the world... HERE It is estimated that the area around Chernobyl, The Exclusion Zone will be inhabitable in 200 years. The actual site of the reactor won't be usable for 20,000 years. So having a Geiger counter in your survival pack is a must. There is really no way to estimate...

I went with a baseball bat. When it comes down to close quarters, I'm not worried about killing zeds anymore. I just want something that can knock them out of my way so I can escape or make my way to something that goes bang.

If I was at my current location and just using what I have on hand first I would throw up tight wires for fencing. Then I would use the lumber I could spare while building a stone wall behind the lumber. Once the stone is up I'm pretty sure your set.

Chain mail would work very well IMHO
not overly heavy and covers most everything while still being flexible

A heavy wetsuit would also be a option...no idea on how tuff they are

That would be cool. The only problem is that using a knife requires close quaters - something not very smart with zombies. I prefer to pick them off at a distance. But, that doesn't mean I won't bring my trust KA-Bar with me.
I'm a bit of a knife collector too, I have quite a few, a couple tactical Lock back folders, a USMC Ka Bar ( the real one), a butterfly knife, replica...

For a long time i have been interested in crafting almost anything weapon wise.In my free time i make a plethora of knives,hatchets,machetes,bows,and many more primative things.
on a more modern note,I am very knowledgeable with lockpicking,hotwiring and making small explosives.
Also if it were to come down to it were i live near the mountains,I have some of the best outdoor survival ...
