Look in Fusi, posted in the history section of the BB. Here: Scans of Fusi's Production Numbers (for reference, not dial-up friendly) It has scans of all the Fusi production data including VIN and engine number ranges for each model for each year. US Spiders appear to start in the 3040001 range, so looks like your car is not a US 2000 Spider. Engine number is separate from chassis number and could easily have been changed in the 38 years...

Problem with bleeding a clutch...
Published (2009-11-09 10:24:00)
I have NOT read this whole thread, but this is a COMMON problem on Ferrari's early 275 GTB. I thought I knew how to approach this system until my friend Skip removed the master, slave, line and reservoir and pressure bled the assembly ON THE WORKBENCH, and then reinstalled it. Unbelievable! The best clutch feel this car has had in 44 years! This may not be possible with the Alfa system, but it is probable that some variation will work....

That's it! That's the thread - 2nd US 3.7 litre 24v Milano... It's a long thread (but I also address the Painless install in various places from about page 17 onwards...) It's OK, all you need to worry about is that in the standard setup, the fuel-pump relay is triggered by a signal from the flap on the AFM. With the AFM removed, the standard Alfa double-relay on the firewall doesn't get that signal anymore and now the...

Heater Blower Problem Sloved

Double check that the fan motor is bad before you go to all of that trouble. I like to check blowers, etc by powering them directly from a 12 volt battery. I keep a burglar alarm battery on float for this purpose. My Milano blower would not run recently and it turned out to be a bad ground. At first I thought it was a bad motor because I had 12 volts at the motor terminal when it was switched on.

I liked the Verde I had better that the 164S(Q) that I have now. They are two completely different cars though. The 164 is a real cruiser and quick (for its age). It's a bit persnickety and a bugger to work on when it breaks. The Milano is a car that you can toss around and do more "performance" driving with. The S is a sleeper on the road. You can drop a gear and spank about anything out there ...

Hi Alex
Fascinating stuff as so little is known about 6936. And what became of 2028? Can you post a picture of the chassis stamping, it would be great to see it after all these years?

Hey Howie,
I have a "Beverly Hills Alfa Romeo" plate frame in my collection. Seeing your location, it would be perfect for you.

You're missing the bracket that attaches to the hardtop. Look at this post
Hardtop / Tonneau cover attachments on S4 Spider
Not that you would, but don't try using your hardtop without the J hooks, unless you don't mind losing it while driving down the road. The windshield brackets and hooks on the back are not enough to keep it secured safely.

The first thing anyone will ask is whether the bleed screw was oriented at
12 o'clock. If it isn't you're never going to get all the air out.

In fact, you can find leather inside the ski pass-thru and wrapped way up under the seats as mentioned. I have found that when you remove the rear seat, you can find the signature of the craftsman that upholstered the seats on the backside. I have never found another car with so much real leather used on so many of the seats surfaces. Makes my wife's XC70 and a friends Passat look downright ...

Jim,
This truck is the only single-vehicle transporter that I know, a conversion by Scattollini. I saw this A12 earlier this year and it's a lovely example, to my untrained eye. Might inspire you!
The link to the Black & White Garage page is here and contains further details.
Cheers,
Alex.

Giugiaro designed the Alfetta GT but Alfa made some detail changes after a
wind tunnel session. Result was that Giugiaro refused permission for Alfa
to use his name in connection with the car. I think the GTV6 revisions were
done in-house at Alfa Romeo but can't confirm this.

Price is way high for the condition. And that's without even knowing the mechanical condition.
Yes, anything is restorable, but is it economically viable to do so? This price will get you a shabby decent-running Bosch Spider with minor issues in the Bay Area, and I imagine in Florida too, where there are a fair number of them.

The correct bulbs are the Sylvania "European Lamp" 2721. But you've got the wrong voltage & wattage listed there: they should be 1.2W and either 12 or 14V.

Forget it. The easiest way to replace a flywheel is to leave the engine in
the car and pull the transmission. This leaves plenty of working room to
address flywheel issues, and is less troublesome than pulling the engine,
or engine and transmission. Just my opinion.

I have a friend who owns an '85 Euro model that I have driven. My assessment is that is was very disappointing. The acceleration was leasurely to say the least and probably the biggest disappointment. Handling is pretty decent for that era and the engine note sounds really nice with his Tubi exhaust. I guess the 308 represents a great way to get the Ferrari experience at a low cost point. ...

Removing the air box allows easier access to the oil filter. I dont exactly remember but the car takes a good amount of oil.
At least from the pictures the paint does not look that bad. Def. not to the point where I think it would be worth going through paining it. Specially to another color. Real Alfas are red
