You did great!? Your hair will grow back in no time, and you are still sober.? How wonderful!!!? Poor hairdresser - she will not last long at that job if she does poor haircuts and appears to be intoxicated....? I remember once my former hairdresser?cut my hair when he was so hungover he could hardly stand.? He reeked of alcohol early in the morning, looked like garbage, and the entire experience was so unpleasant I never went back to him...

Either stop drinking or stop breastfeeding.? If it is bothering you to the point where it is on your mind and you are writing a post about it....I think instinctively something is telling you that you should not be consuming alcohol while breastfeeding (whether it is 10-12-24 hours later). In this day and age...so much is expected from children and they are being expected to learn at younger ages.? I don't know about breastfeeding but...

Went to get my haircut today after my meeting.? The regular girl I go to was busy and couldn't squeeze me in so I tried another stylist (my hair is super short, like Jamie Lee Curtis)? Well, I sat down, and she proceeded to cut my hair.? I swear she was either drunk, buzzed or on something.? She kept rambling on and on, semi slurring her words, and I basically had to tell her what to do.? She made me very nervous but I just wanted her to...

...I respectfully disagree Brenda (...;)...)...if one is drinking enough or often enough to worry about being an alcoholic...but...we all have levels of acceptable...I, myself...back in the day when I drank a glass of wine with my meal (yes, I know...strange for Monica)...I would enjoy a glass at the company Christmas party and then breast feed my son in the morning...

LOL Monica.? You can disagree with me.? I am hearing your opinion.? Even if I agree with your opinion (and I do agree with part of it) the facts are not changed and can be found in any doctor's office or alcohol councelor can give the same info.? Fact....Alcohol ALWAYS evaporates at the same rate of speed, no matter how much you drink or how much you weigh.? Fact...no matter what I THINK, the facts are the facts....and as a CL, I am...

Baby steps it is!? Congratulations on getting through a tough day without the bottle. IMO, one of the best places a drunk can be is in an AA meeting.? We know how to help them.? One day at a time....

Thanks for your kind words. Okay, I think I've got it now: Relapse is NOT PART of recovery, but the LACK of recovery. What a great insight!

I am somewhat familiar with the facilities to which you refer. But I always thought they were for the rich & famous-- where the "beautiful people" go to detox or perhaps avoid jail time. I had no idea they had scholarships/grants. I will certainly look into this. Thank you for the information!!!

Hi Jayden,
Your mother is using you - and that is very sad to me. You do not owe her one dime and you work hard for your money! She is probably using guilt and manipulation to get your money, and it is a very easy trap to fall into! She has been expecting everyone else to take care of her and now she is expecting you to carry on that responsibility. Unfortunately, your mother isn't ...

Good for you Nikki. The day you went thru is exactly what I was told in the beginning. I knew how to go get drunk when I did not know how to handle situations. Sobriety was learning how to live life effectively after I quit hiding in a bottle. Wow...what an order! You did great and you did not drink. Your day was almost perfect....even though tough. I am so happy for you. What a great ...

7-10 days is the withdrawal period.
Dangerous to Detox at home. Alcoholism is the only addiction that you can die from during withdrawals. But, you are safe now that you are thru the first 48 hours.
If you still feel crappy, I would guess that it will be another 4 days for you before you start feeling better. This is the hardest part not to drink thru...because you want to feel better....

Hi tyler,
Very good question. I do think a relationship with an alcoholic can work. My personal experience tells me that the alcoholic needs to be thru the 12 steps and committed to keeping their sobriety up front. While I hear some say at least a year, I do think that is a good idea, although not always done. I have had a couple (two) sponsees that did not take that suggestion. One got...

Hello and welcome
Sometimes doing the right thing is the hardest thing in the world. I would make sure to talk to DH and set a specific time when you are both home. Make it in the middle of the day. Then text your son at the number he texted you from, and tell him his things will be available for pick up that day at that time.
Other than that, get all the support you can from us....
