A small 'regional' airport that handles some international flights. Though there is a domestic and an international section, if you fly Thai, you must enter the international section for Thai check-ins. Going thru the initial security at the front door. Warning : all gels, liquids etc must be packed in check-on bags. No allowances. Departure lounge is ok - as long as no more than 2 planes are leaving close together. Arrival...

JNB-CPT. This airline offers value for money. Departed on time, arrived 5 minutes early, clean cabin and very friendly staff. I got an emergency exit seat so plenty of room and the seat reclined, unlike my previous SAA flight. Also took advantage of their weekend car hire deal which was a big bonus too.

Penang International Airport - laid back atmosphere, old, furnishing really dated. Food cost is similar to US airport prices and there are a few cafes with local prices -they are hidden from the crowds so you have to search. For some reason, this airport reminds me of Honolulu International Airport but in a smaller scale.

MAN-HEL-HKG return in Economy for £309 is the best price I've had this year, normally fly via AMS but very impressed with Finnair. It's simple but efficient. Transfer about an hour in HEL, however we were 30min late and still managed transfer without any hassle. The airport is setup for transfers, and the airline waits for late inbound passengers, and ensures that bags are onboard. The terminal is small so no long walks between...

Visa-on-arrival desk now much more efficient, as they seem to have found software that can transfer your scanned passport details onto the visa stickers (they used to have to type all data manually). However, issuing a full-page visa sticker for a stay of a few days is ridiculous and simply wastes an entire passport page upon every entry. In Japan, the sticker is about the size of a postage stamp. On departure, unnecessary waiting time is...

LHR-LUG return Business class. The one thing I found disappointing about these flights was the lack of legroom. The seats are the same as in coach, but the middle seat is kept free. Otherwise, FAs were wonderful as was the food - even managing a sandwich on the 20 minute flight between Zurich and Lugano.

Arrival at Narita at 1630 hrs, long queues at immigration. However senior immigration quickly ushered us (family of 4) to a special counter and bypassed several passengers. Toilets were clean with several baby changing facilities found. Not many shops found in the arrival hall. Baggage claims fast and efficient.
