The retirement numbers do not appear unrealistic, there are a lot of old guys out there. However...Kit Darby made a lot of money throwing around similar figures for years. Don't forget to factor in mergers, consolidation, rabid environmentalism, etc. I can't see UAL or AMR recalling all of their furloughs in the foreseeable future. The prognosis is still uncertain in my book. And the elephant in the room: Oil. Even if economical Jet...

My personal favorite. To me it almost has a cinematic feel to it. Down the hatch. A classmate standing in the cargo door. Getting a bath on the wash rack. -------------------- That's it! You can view many more from the evening if you wish here: 161st ARW KPHX album | Ben | Fotki.com As a side note, I asked the Sergeant who acted as our guide about job availabilities at the 161st, and he said that there are both enlisted and officer...

I can't think of any contract pilot who has had a sip of the security kook-aide when it comes to contract flying. As a contract pilot, your next flight may very well be your last flight with a particular contract. It does not make a difference if the agency is PARC, Rishworth, Direct Personel, etal... nor does it make a difference of the airline the contract pilot is assigned to such as JAL, SAI, Air India etal. Most reputable contracting...

The love for aviation gets beaten out of you day by day. Luckily I am not
there yet and still love going to work. However when you go through what
some of the guys on this forum have been through your rose colored glasses
fade quickly. If you go into this job eyes wide open knowing you will have
high debt low pay and crappy hours then its just what you expect of it and
you may even have a good ...

Actually, its usually the older pilots, especially at the majors that wear baseball caps to keep their balding dome from frying and to reduce glare.
Be prepared for people to flame the hell out of you on this thread.

That seems to be the case as it stands right now. It seems the voluntary measures are as of yet insufficient to prevent a furlough.
The good news out of all this is that the voluntary measures were successful enough to reduce the furlough number by well over 50 percent. The company will announce the final number shortly and those that need to be cut will have the option of taking a long-term ...

It is very disappointing to see someone jump on 2 Disputed Pairings - in the same month no less. I too hope his pilot monitoring skills are exercised and he is reminded on a consistent basis that blatant selfish ...
