Interesting but fair enough. Would be interested to see the outcome of this. We are holding off on the upgrade, and look forward to when it is stable!

Is there a link to it? From their main site I saw just the sign up form. I pay annually, not monthly. I have yet to go live, looking to do it by the end of the month. I have 400 ACM and 100 OBM. From when I was researching a year ago, Ahsay had the best reselling capabilities. Also open to exploring other alternatives if anyone knows of any. Just looking for the best product and the best price. Thanks for the post! Mike

if i ever get this fixed, i will post the resolution here. i have tickets submitted but so far nothing useful has come of it. what is interesting is that if i remove the idx files , rebuild the user folder, and implement CDP, CDP works just fine.

Why would you do that? Not everyone wants to run the latest bug ridden version of your software. that makes absolutely no sense. Things like this and your price increase are exactly why i'm going to start searching for new software. this is turning into a joke.

add : to post-install.bat for your OBM -------------------------- sc stop OBCDPService sc config OBCDPService start= disabled ------------------------ .\..\...\custom-obm\app\win\bin this will Stop the CDP Service, then disable this HUGE memory hog. this happens right after the OBM is installed. then on those users you want to use CDP, just enable the service, or make 2 installer packages, one with the above command, and another un touched.

And again Support3, please have someone update the pedia article 1467 to show that 5.5.5.4 version of OBS is out. No, do you have any network interfaces which are not named in /etc/hosts ? If you do, then they need to be added.

I would guess that when a file goes missing on the OBS (checksum, retention etc etc) the obm doesn't know.
Anyway, there are better ways. I like the new idea in > 5.5? of having one main index (bdb's etc) instead of each folder. Seems to be going in the right direction.
The problem comes when your OBS is on ADSL 20Mbit/1Mbit and the index file is 400Meg!!!! Lucky I have 50Mbit/...

Hello,
I am a fellow AHSAY user. I am having the same problem on a 445GB restore of a customers data. I have increased to java heap size to no help. I have even used the decypt.bat file to restore, no luck.
What version of OBS / OBM are you running? I think the problem may be there.
Did you copy the files from the OBS to an external hard drive and then with the decrypt files...

By default your settings will run a full backup once the incremental chain hits its 100th upload (or 50% ratio file size of total incremental files to original file). You don't need to worry about scheduling it, as that will happen automatically (for better or worse). You are going to need to sell your client on a faster connection or just get into the habit of running a seed load every 3.333 ...

I was very cautious and got a new server/new license and installed 5.5.5.0
I then started to migrate users to the new server from an OBS version 5.5.1.6
I did a rebuild user storage as I migrated each user to keep the load down.
I migrated 20 accounts then started getting these type of errors (mainly on backups that ran for a long time)

Have you not used the Local Copy option?
There is an option to say skip backup to offsite server which then only backups up to a local resorce (local as in local network as you can local copy to any disk/share the client PC can see)

since upgrading to 5.5.5.0/5.5.5.2 we are now getting hundreds of these errors. Ahsay told us to rebuild the account and the problem would go away. but this is not fixing the problem.

Hi there.
We have one of our own servers that backups up Shadow Protect incremental very day, and it works great!
Today, I went to backup a full disk image, and it is spending a lot of time trying to generate a delta file. Why would it do this? It doesn't need to see the differences between last time, as it is backing the whole thing up anyway?

Although we are, like many, disappointed that Ahsay has chosen to add the bare-metal recovery function as an additional cost add-on (because aside from that feature, we've waited a long time for the 5.5.3 release even though the vast majority of it was clearly bug fixes, just look at the release notes), but I'm going to put that issue aside for a minute.

I'm having trouble getting any data to replicate from the Ahsay OBS server to the AhsayRPS server. It just doesn't show up there. No firewall is separating them and I went through the quick start "Getting Started with AhsayRPS" and enabled it on OBS and RPS server as mentioned. It does seem to be replicating the home directory information, but never the small test directory which I've created....

Hi all.
I have got a problem with OBM on one of our servers.
Basically I just can't invoke OBM's interface. OBM icon is present on system tray however double clicking it or using "Open" from menu seems to do nothing. Most of the tray icon menu options are dim and only Open, Help and Exit seems to be available.
I have uninstalled the OBM (5.3.2) and installed the latest ...

Windows 2003 - Running latest version
I setup a server about a year ago with 80 or so client machines backing up.
The machine is using a raid5 setup, 1TB (3 1tb drives).
It has gotten to the point that defrag is not possible (takes several days just to scan). I tried just about every defrag program, nothing will work including the higher end ones like Diskeeper, perfect disk, etc....

We are running OBS 5.5.5.2, and OBM clients 5.5.5.0. We are getting multiple errors on several clients like this:
