Congrats and good luck. I hope you get it (of course, if you don't then I'm sure it'll just be fate intervening because it has some major fatal flaw).

Second Half of Student Teaching...

Sorry your lesson is how NOT to be a teacher, but unfortunately there are a lot of lazy, minimalist teachers out there who really give the rest of us a bad reputation. Find inspiration in this! Teach great lessons to these kids and try to reach them in the little time you have with them. Practice getting them to behave. Make a difference in a way this teacher refuses to. You're not gonna get this teacher to change, and your professor or...

Ever feel guilty?

I do it all the time. I don't think of it as being sneaky; I think of it as helping the student. If the work is his, all you are doing is helping him present it in a published format. Many of my students use "scribing" as an accommodation and that is what you are doing. You've helped him to complete the draft and helped devise a plan to get it completed and handed in on time. I would be sure he sits with you while...

I have a student like this and I am trying to work with her. She shuts everything out when she wants to do or say something. It is a challenge and I am trying to figure it out too. I try a lot of one on one with her and she responds very well to that, BUT it only lasts for abt 5 minutes tops, just to get what she wants, and then she's back to her old self. It's a BIG issue because she also ...

I don't send it home over the holidays. I work them so hard throughout the year, they just need to be kids and spend time with their families. I certainly don't want to do work over the holidays!

I have no idea why teachers vacation during the school year, or why it's allowed.
We teach 180 days a year. That leaves an awful lot of time to vacation when school is not in session.
I can see the special cases-- spouse is deployed or whatever. But beyond that, please live up to your committment and teach when school is open!!!

I'm sorry you're feeling so under the weather! I've been lucky so far (knock wood), but we have had a couple of staff members and students out for more than a week. Take care of yourself!

TURKEY THIS, TURKEY THAT!
It's just hubby and I so he's for just getting the ready made stuff from Bill Millers or any place that does it, BUT I don't want that. I love the turkey in the plastic bag and it falls apart. You can pick @ the left over turkey for a long time.
We get Thursday & Friday off with pay, It's .

In my book area and also through out the class I have rain gutters hanging on the walls to hold books for those areas. Rain gutter idea came from a CPIN training on ELLCO. As for my big book I have a big book storage unit from lakeshore.

My school uses a type of math system that is called a "spiraling method" or something like that. It basically teaches them how to do something in many different ways--- which honestly just frustrates the heck out of the students. I'm glad our 5th grade math teacher just does the basics and tries to do what is best for the student.... not what the book tells her.

I have one ex pupil on facebook (he lives with his dad and was a kid who should have "gone off the rails" but responded to his learning when in my class two years ago). I feel a sense of moral responsibility to the kid and HE asked me to be HIS friend. How sad that modern society blanket-bans real human care/responsibility !!
Look out for a new film coming out soon in the UK called "Hells ...

Yeah, that makes no sense to me at all. It is going to take women not getting their yearly and coming down with stage 3 or 4 cancer before something will be done to reverse this decision... a stage 3 or 4 that could have been treated if found earlier.

I'm usually always on time unless there is bad traffic or some accident. I HATE being late! I don't like being too early either...but better than being late. I'll sit in my car if I'm really early, and then go in a few min before to where I need to be.
