This was a topic before, I know, but I have a new one to add. I went to a quilt shop out of my usual range Thursday. The clerk who cut my fabric had a suctioncup bathroom grab bar (of the kind sold by call-in-the-next-5-minutes TV offers) for a ruler handle. It was big enough to give her control of a 7" x 24" ruler and it removed easily by flipping a lever on each end to change ...

Has anyone made any quilted clothing? I would love to have a go, but don't know where to start. Could I use an ordinary jacket pattern, for example and just up the size that I normally wear? I went to a quilt show yesterday, and other crafts, they did have a log cabin jacket pattern for sale, but it was 40 euros, $54!! There was no fabric included, just a pattern and ...

The author has marked this message not to be archived. This post will be deleted on October 26, 2008. It's 11:36 pm Saturday night here in middle Tennessee, and I've been pulling my hair trying to update blogs. YEESH! I lost all my entries when I updated versions, and I followed instructions implicitly! Now I'm scared to do it on others! THEN I have a few in another format, and ...

I saw a binding tool at a show that attaches the binding in one step using your sewing machine. I love to do the binding and especially the hand sewing on the back, but I am in the midst of making a gazillion scrap quilts for use at home, in the car, etc. and I am looking for a quick way to do the binding without having to hand sew on the back. I don't want to birth the quilts either...

Hello everybody! We are doing a fall shearing of our Icelandic sheep next Saturday, October 18, and are inviting YOU to join us. If you are thinking of diversifying your fiber farm, picking out a fleece to blend with your llama fiber, or are just curious about Icelandics (or sheep in general), this is your chance to check things out. Of course, we also have llamas, including our ...

Sell a hawg to pay for it if you have to but you just must get a copy of Quiltmaker Nov/Dec 08. Mickie has two 'knock your socks off' quilts in it. One is Playful Pinwheels that is even bright enough to please me; the other is a spring tablecloth (or Christmas tree skirt). Wow. It's so wonderful to see one of our own creating such beauty. Atta girl, Mickie. Polly

I finished a Yellow Brick Road quilt top, and my DD really loves it. I want the finished quilt to be soft and huggable for watching TV (she is always cold!). I was thinking of backing it with flannel -- but which? Is there a special thicker kind I should try? What is all this stuff about single napped and double napped? And, what batting should I use? I want this one to be ...

Art Deco Christmas would look great on clothing items with a little bling added, if that is your style! I put #10 on a sweatshirt and added crystals scattered all around it. Wow! They are in 5 sizes for 1 price: http://www.gnrembroidery.com/Art-Deco-Christmas.ht ml Religious Lace has so many uses! I tested it on tea towel fabric using a "tone on tone" technique. They were ...

I am a quilter and it is really important to me. I am also a 50 year old woman who has had severe RA ( rheumatoid Arthritis) for 13 years with an added complication of neurological damage and pain on my right side for the past 3 years (a side effect of one of my meds.) I quilt as much as I can depending on pain level, and where my head is in a day. I set a timer for usually about 10 ...

Polly has some more photos that she wants to share with us - I decided that she should have her own album! You can see her baby hug quilt here http://community.webshots.com/user/barnyowl I think that the joy shown on Abby's face is all the thanks that Polly needs? I hope that there will be more creations to share at a later date? jennellh
