I grow more concerned with each passing year. If one doesn't know how to create a valid survey in the first place, how exactly is one gleaning valid results from the surveys one gets from asking for them on a site such as this? As I continue work on my graduate degree, I am re-encountering the quantitative analysis concepts I had to learn many moons ago and I have to wonder -- are all of the ...

I'm confused. If the learning needs are essentially static and the media is not particularly robust or non-existent, then yes - I can see how it would be cheaper. For many projects, though, I see these generic assertions that taking the learning and slapping it online will somehow be more effective and efficient. I can't figure out where that's coming from. Do people expect software to just ...

Hi everyone, It's the age old conundrum. I may be a little be too impatient here, but I'm beginning to see a pattern in my job hunt. All jobs I've been seeing (especially on the ASTD Job Bank) require at least 3 years of corporate training experience. I've been looking for 3 months now and I haven't seen a single entry level position advertised. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong spots? How ...

I'm looking for a creative way to get our Firm's leadership more involved in our New Employee Orientation. We have 4 offices, each with a partner who is in charge of a particular office. I am looking for more than just the typical, "Welcome to the Firm" greeting and handshake. We don't have large orientations, so they have the leadership has the opportunity to be personal. New employees are taken...

We've been organizing (with great success) our Corporate High Potential Leaders into week long Action Learning Teams. It is very successful. However with the downturn in the economy we're going virtual and are in the process of continuing the Action Learning Teams (ALT) virtually through the use of WebEx, telephony, and using Sharepoint. Anybody have any experiece doing this? If so - please let ...

Are there any other vendors out there besides SkillSoft and Element K that provide a robust e-learning environment? My organization is beginning an RFP process. I was hoping to send our RFP to more than just these 2 vendors. Please help.

Hi all, Currently, I am doing some research regarding Knowledge Management for my company. My manager wants to have a simple and user friendly software to survey and identify all the skills that our employees (350 ppl)have. Once we completed the survey, we can keep it in our LMS, and update it every year. The reason why we want to do it, because we wish we can do some cross-functional ...

We are searching for new Learning Management System for a small organization (500 employees). Outstart, GeoLearning and Prosperity all seem to be very similar systems with a range of prices (all within our budget). They all appear to support our goals. Please let me know if you have information about any of these systems as I'm looking to tip the scales one way or another without making pricing ...

We are implementing a LMS for the first time. I would like some feedback from other organizations who have implemented a LMS for the first time: challenges; communication methods to staff; appropriate allocation of time for staff to engage in learning activities etc. policies and procedures. Please share.

Currently, our Employee Development program consists of sending people to AMA courses or having them take online SkillSoft courses. We are looking to expand our offerings. Does anyone have any ideas on a new (COST RESTRICTIVE) approach to Employee Development? Thanks

I'm looking for a software that will help me design review games to use in a course. I want the instructor to be able to control it and display it on the screen. The instructor will not have web access. Does anyone know of anything that is out there?

I'm looking for an exercise that would give participants a process that they would have to put in the correct order. I'm trying to help them create task teams to fix internal processes from a service standpoint. Thanks,
