Have i got a phenom ii BE 940...
Published (2009-11-25 21:43:00)
First of all, you may need to update your motherboard bios to a version that supports the 940. Then, download and install CPU-Z, it's freeware and will display your current CPU & memory specs.

Well this sucks

I think the OP was also referring to the small power switches/reset button etc. Whenever I have build computers I would sometimes class this as the more cumbersome task. Fear not though, as the manual will have a diagram of where all the "mini" switches go on the motherboard - just follow the manual.

I'll start. Tom's Hardware is doing a thing every day this week where they put up good deals they find. Here is today (Tues.):

If you find a good deal somewhere... Tiger, Egg, ZZF, whatever, post it! Or post what you're looking for. I for instance would like a laptop with an M300 or M500, which of course means Radeon 4200.

I can't provide any numbers, but you should notice a nice bump in performance.
XP was developed long before the advent of multi-core processors.
Vista and especially Win 7 are optimized for these newer multi-core CPU's.
I have a tri-boot system and have XP on one of my installations.
I can tell you this, my 965 runs a whole lot smoother on Win 7 vs. XP.
Do yourself a big favor, ditch XP ...

I would not be worried about the OS so much as all the drivers that are loaded in that OS when it was installed on different hardware.....this may cause you some problems, and Windows will most likely force you to re-register it as the hardware will be drastically different.
If however you are just asking if a x86 version of XP will run on an Athlon 64 the answer is yes.

The HP Pavilion dv2z series could be considered a Netbook as well. It too offers Dual cores, but they have a small single core processor available as well. I personally think the term "netbook" is REALLY being pushed beyond its limits. Now I think it includes 12" and below screens since now we mostly see 13" as the smallest on "true" notebooks. Who knows, its too early to tell.

I don't see how this would make IE9 noticeably faster than Chrome... I mean mine at 18 Mbps loads pages extremely fast already.

1000,s of times.
It's easy for me, but its all about your comfort level and skill set I recon.
If this is your first time doing the switch out, my advice is to take your time and do it right.
Cut no corners , get the cable management right the first time and watch what you do.
You dont want to slip and scrape the top of your board or GPU lol.

Have you tried to RMA the videocard? Most ATI partners i believe have a warranty longer then 6 months, so you shouldnt have a problem with that. Who makes the 4870?

Both cpu are running at 2.8ghz so unless a game uses all cores it isn't going to make a vast difference to performance. Benchmarks for Modern Warfare 2 suggest around 47fps @ 1920x1200. Do you have a 3DMark score?
Reinstalling just Sp3 won't do anything much. Update drivers to latest versions and see if that makes a difference. If not it may be worth it to reinstall the OS.

Make sure the ram voltages are set according to the sticker on the side of the chip. If they already are, try bumping up the NB voltage one notch and see if that helps.
