How to land a job the ADHD way
Published (2009-11-25 23:33:00)
Today I had an interview with a company that I had heard thru the grapevine did work in my area with developmental disabilities. I'd put in my resume a week ago and heard back from them and was asked to come in for an interview. When I got there I realised this was not the 'right company' but hey, I didn't say so. I would never have applied for this job mostly because I wouldn't expect my credentials to fit the bill....

While I am still learning how to cope and accommodate for my lack of motivation and how best to study, I have learned one thing. I was always told to study in a quiet place with limited distractions. But, through doing this and my mind constantly daydreaming and going a million miles per hour, I've learned that to help me focus better I need something like loud music playing or the TV on so that part of my mind can focus on that while...

Increase Search Accuracy Fun
Published (2009-11-25 19:04:00)
Some sites have their search function powered by Google. This one doesn't,and I don't want to suggest more work for our webmaster,so here is another way to take advantage of Google, and only end up with results from this site(whole forum, all categories). Pull up Google (shame on you if it isn't already on your browser as the 'default' ) Then type: site:addforums.com then a space, then your keywords,in the search box...

Concerta, 54mg, side effects? :/
Published (2009-11-25 13:56:00)
Definitely could be panic attacks, but I wouldn't rule out more serious side effects, such as high blood pressure. You might want to have your blood pressure checked to make sure.

Looks to be time for some of those relationship boundary sites. . . .I find they help people sort of know where they are in this sea of maddening emotions. A Checklist on Boundaries in a Relationship Set Boundaries in Love espect and Personal Boundaries in ADHD Relationships Hopefully these will be more of a neutral approach to your problems as opposed to a replay of ADDer verses non-ADDers which I am sure you get plenty of already Hope these...

[quote=Ethereal;810995]Uhhm...just have to address the information given here before getting to the main issue-720 mg of Concerta is not equal to 160 mg Ritalin, not even close. 720 mg of Concerta equals a lot more than 160 mg Ritalin- at least 500 mg. As for the issue in the original post- you're definitely taking a very, very high dose. Some people have a very high tolerance for medication, and need higher doses than most people, but...

How to make him understand this?
Published (2009-11-25 23:31:00)
Oh, and I can't speak to your husband(s) and other family members with ADD, but we get frustrated with our lack of ability to carry things out as well. I know that I do. For instance, if I go to bed at a decent time, I function better, my mood is better, I feel better, etc. Yet, when the time comes to go to bed, there is some sort of internal battle and rebellion that keeps me from wanting to go to bed. Exercise makes me feel SOOOOOO much...

You are not alone in your struggles negotiating the red tape and procedure in your home country. While you wait learn and share here at the boards. Medication is truly only a small part of treatment. The fact is that when you take meds, you still have to make and follow through on choices. You can practice tips and tricks for managing your symptoms here while you wait for your medical therapy to ...

Yes. Lots of links there, depending on the type of ADD you have.

First of all, IMO, you pretty much "rule," so hang in there.
As for the rest, I'm a guy and we live on the Beavis & Butthead Planet.
Therefore, we have absolutely no idea.
Anyway, football is on and stuff.

I can't say I know exactly what you are experiencing, but I think I can come pretty close...you sound like a determined woman! I have had severe post partum depression and anxiety, with all three of my children (plus undiagnosed ADHD). I know what it is like to consider walking out. I was a single mom dealing with it on my own, even though the kids' father knew how I was feeling, he did ...

Have you tried it like that?? lol Sounds pretty clear-cut, though finding out you have something wrong with you and getting help is not like a car wash either. I have had to explain this to my husband. You have not shared all the details, but there must be some things that you wish he would do that he isn't. Maybe your way of helping him doesn't make him learn. Maybe YOU need to learn how to "...

I always wanted to homeschool. My sister does and it is working out so great for them. However, my sister is a hyper-organized, high energy, can-do kind of person. (She's also on the board of her homeschooling group, and has the kids in sports and activities and 100 things going on at once.)
A reality that I've come slamming up against in the last few years is ADD, and it's knocked down my...

Hello, Lacey --
Yes, Adderall and dextroamphetamine are related... To explain it as simply as possible, Adderall is basically 73% dextroamphetamine . But the other 23% of what's in Adderall tends to cause a lot more physical symptoms than dextroamphetamine does -- including a lot of physical stimulation , one frequent symptom of which is sweating, which could very likely be tied ...

When I go to the supermarket I prefer to go alone. Make sure the list is complete and most importantly the items are in the same order as I am likely to find them on my route through the supermarket.
When I am shopping with someone else I estimate the ensuing mess will triple the time it takes to get through.

i'm sure we've all played this game, but i think it could be fun (sans drinking). One person says Have you ever _______________?
next person says "yes" or "no" (and can elaborate) then asks another question.
I'll start.
Have you ever shop-lifted?

If it were the other way around and my husband had ADD, and he actually SAID to me "leaving the house fills me with dread";
Well, I would be first thankful that I knew this, and secondly, I wouldn't make him go to something he dreaded. I would be extremely concerned and try and get him to do things in small steps (I would probably go about it completely wrong, and cause further problems, but I...

I was diagnosed in my 30's. Honestly, I don't know why I wasn't diagnosed sooner. But then again, I don't think ADHD is necessarily spotted easier today. We may have some more education that we did in previous years, but I find it's still a very misunderstood condition. Although I could be wrong. But let's face it *I* didn't recognize my symptoms were ADHD. So if I couldn't see the problem, I'm ...

Maybe if the original concentration was 1M... if it was higher than that then it would be proportionate. I see what you're saying though, and I don't know enough about it to answer fully. On the chemistry though, a 1M solution diluted by a factor of 10, 23 times, would have more than one molecule! The concentration would just be lower.
So, if you lowered the volume correspondingly then yes,...

Day 2: all through the night and morning felt a mild chest ache. It would come and go, and actually I can't tell if it's coming from chest, or somewhere deep from pectorial muscles due to an intense weights work out the night before so I'm going to ignore it for now.
