Facts: Darlton have said, "the time travel season is over, for s6 we are doing something else..." Matt Fox has previously said that the "timelines will merge" about a third through the season, yet we are seeing up to 6.08 evidence of some non-linear timeline things being filmed. Either Matt Fox was misinformed, and the "alt timeline" will be nearly season long, or what we may have believed...

i sort of feel the same way. i think there will be a bit of an alternate timeline thing with some memories back to the old timeline. through the intervention of jacob or someone our losties will correct the timeline and end up at the foot of the statue after ben kills jacob. "they are coming." again, just my idea of a posible way it could play out

plus all the examples you gave except for ben's mom are known to be smokie and ben's mom is, I believe, known to be an actual apparition of Emily Linus. Emily is the only appearance that is not credited to the smoke monster actually. Even the spiders that paralized Nikki and Paulo were the smoke monster.

The temple has a technological purpose. It is the base of the science-fiction security system, our dear Smokey. It seems to contain a technology able to cure or revive people, which seems magic to us because it is ahead of our current scientific level.

well... the circle of ash must be kinda powerful to keep somebody inside. like superman and kryptonite. and so jacob loses his ability to keep his shape. otherwise he could possibly just stand up and blow the ash away or something like that. would be kinda stupid.
